WHy is it called maplestory?

just a random question, but really why is the game named maplestory? i dont really get it lol. nothing in the game has to do with or has any connection to anything maple lolz :.

Why is there games called Wonder King? Or World Of Warcraft? Loads of games have names that don't have anything to do with them.

@ above thats the most stupid reason becuz its called maple weapon becuz its maplestory xd idk maybe the guy who made the idea was under the mapletree

Because the committee was having a pancake breakfast, then when one of them used a bottle of syrup, it exploded onto the wall. But this was no ordinary explosion. Instead, it was a syrupy form of hieroglyphics. It told a story about four adventurers finding new land and prospering. And since syrupstory sounded stupid, they decided to use the type of syrup it was - Maple. Maplestory from then on formed more and more every week. :D
