Is the Pokewalker that important in HG/SS?

I am debating whether to buy an R4 and download pokemon HG or just buy pokemon HG alone. The only difference is that when I download pokemon HG, I won't get the pokewalker. So is the pokewalker important?

No, it's just a gimmick. Unless you play competitivly and want a Volt Tackle/Surfing Pikachu, then it's useless.

Cause I am definitely getting a Pikachu and I want it to know Volt Tackle.

40 bucks for a pokewalker is NOT worth it. an r4 gets you w/e games you want, for around the same price. plus, with the r4, it comes with cheats and lets you use pokesav.

[/quote] it's not impossible to obtain one without the pokewalker, but it definitely makes it easier. plus, I've found quite a few berries on my pokewalker which have come in handy several times.

If you have an R4, can't you cheatzz? The pokewalker doesn't provide much of a difference. You can check on Serebii for what the pokewalker provides.

[/quote] I could possibly be incorrect about Volt Tackle, I'm no expert on breeding or egg moves, so there may be a way to obtain one without a pokewalker. I know it makes it easier, is all. Also, the Surf/Fly pikachu is exclusive to the pokewalker and only available to others via trade, but not really worth it since it takes two spots with useless moves in a competitive team.

[/quote] You can hatch a Pichu with Volt Tackle, then evolve it. @Meseric: Oh, thought it went over to the other games too...

[/quote] Volt Tackle can only be obtained within Emerald, the only thing about Pokewlker is that you can catch Feebas, and Fly/Surf Pickachu
