| Do you guys think Evans are abnormally stronger than other mages? Don't get me wrong, I like the damage, but I think it kinda sucks for the other mages now. |

|
Foxtrots : This whole comment was pretty wrong. Yes, Evans are slower, but they are also much stronger. Why would you compare Paralyze/CL to Illusion, when Blaze is an Evan's bossing skill? Yes, AM's summons can add a lot to their DPS but it can be a nuisance to keep it in range, and even with a summon its not NEARLY enough damage to compare to Evan. Mob damage? Evan is still stronger, the only downside being that an Evan can't spam Dark Fog ( and yes, that is a huge downside). Telecasting? Guess what. Blaze can be telecasted. So yea, wrong again. Illusion and Wheel can't be telecasted but the range on these skills is huge and who cares if you cant telecast when you can literally stand off screen and snipe a boss with Wheel. Also a great strategy for Zakum and some other bosses with Illusion is to aggro his summons and use Illusion to snipe zak from far away. This way the summons will be hitting you for minimal damage, keeping you immune to most of zak's attacks- while you attack him safely in the corner. Oh let's not forget Evan's get a HUGE damage boost from SE, unlike AM's.
yes because SE is in every boss run. |

| No offense to anyone here, But ive yet to see many people who dont just seem like they are defending their class.. All the Evans saying Evans rule and the A/Ms saying A/Ms rule.. i think the closest thing ive heard to the truth so far would be what Etrieys said about the Continuum of mages. You simply cannot compare one mage class to another because of this reason, Some classes are built for damage, Others are built for support while in between are the Hybrids, I think the majority of people need to come to terms and understand that, Because again no offense everyone is out be be a damage whore these days and is really forgetting what each jobs purpose and advantages are other other jobs. Personally i am a bishop and i am completely and utterly fine healing people and being a Revive/HS mule, Sure im not as powerful as Archmage or an Evan can be in terms of damage however i do provide heals which they cant and HS and Revives which again they cant. So yeah all in all i think people these days need to stop arguing over damage and what is "better" because it is a debate that cant be won due to the fact that different jobs have different purposes and each offer advantages over the other. If everything was about damage and being stronger then there would only need to be one job in all of Maple. |

|
Etrieys : Archmages win 1vs1 DPM. The calculations have already been done about six dozen times. I have friends who are evans who realised I was right all along because of one thing - EVANS ARE SLOW. Illusion cannot compare to the speed of CL or Paralyse, neither can Blaze, and when you factor in an AM's summons, the archmage wins outright. In terms of mob damage, archmages win outright, followed by bishop, followed by Evan. Evans also lose a LOT of DPM because they're unable to telecast - Meaning they take more hits, have to walk more, and struggle against mobile, fast bosses due to the speed of the boss. AM's can telecast backwards. Evans are stuck in a stillframe.
Evans can tele cast, I can show you if you like. |

Until we get the "balance patch", and almost certainly even afterward- Evan is the best bosser. |

| In terms of mob damage, AM and Bishop will always win, hands down. Blizzard, Meteor, and Genesis kinda make that a given. 1 vs 1 is a slightly different story. Currently my CL can hit a max of 20-21k. With Ifrit, he does generally 17k damage. That's 37-38k +roughly. CL can be casted probably every second, if not second and a half. I could maybe cast 3 CL's+1 hit from Ifrit (Averaging 77k or so damage) in the time it took for another illusion to be casted. If not 3, then definitely 2, which would average out at roughly the same damage I think. So 1 vs 1 is pretty even as well. |

|
Foxtrots : Mages are in no way better than Evans at the moment except for that they can spam their ultimate. If we ever get the "balance patch" then Arch Mages will be more on par with Evans.
Not like it matters, all Magicians including Evans are out-shined by your run-of-the-mill attacker in terms of 1v1 DPM. |
Sorry to burst your bubble but i didnt actually mention bossing and everything i said was speaking generally, Sure your Evan may yield higher damage and give more to the overall party but as i said there are some things that A/Ms, Bishops and Evans all have that the others just cant provide which relates to my key point, That everyone is entitled to an opinion but when it comes to the "best" its a dead debate unless you narrow it down to certain circumstances in which yeah you could quite easily say that one is better then the other and in which case i would have to agree with you that no doubt your Evan is stronger then your F/P at Bossing. Yes, AM's summons can add a lot to their DPS but it can be a nuisance to keep it in range, and even with a summon its not NEARLY enough damage to compare to Evan.
You clearly haven't seen the calculations posted by SP. They show that the damage increase with blaze over an AM is actually minimal. Sincerely a few thousand damage per minute.
Foxtrots : Mob damage? Evan is still stronger, the only downside being that an Evan can't spam Dark Fog ( and yes, that is a huge downside).
Wrong, still. AM = 997.5 w/ 80% mastery Evan = 1012.5 w/ 60% Mastery. Negligible damage difference and that's before the balance patch. Furthermore, even if Dark Fog was spammable, the AM would still win due to average DPM being higher than the Evans. So no, Evans are not stronger. Maybe in sheer one-hit damage, but that proves nothing. Does that make panic stronger than brandish?
Foxtrots : Telecasting? Guess what. Blaze can be telecasted. So yea, wrong again. Illusion and Wheel can't be telecasted but the range on these skills is huge and who cares if you cant telecast when you can literally stand off screen and snipe a boss with Wheel. This way the summons will be hitting you for minimal damage, keeping you immune to most of zak's attacks- while you attack him safely in the corner. IN ADDITION TO ALL THAT: Let's not forget Evan's get a HUGE damage boost from SE, unlike AM's.
Even if Blaze can be telecasted, it's still far slower than chain lightning and paralyse, which makes them more effecient telecasters and better KBers. Just because the range on illusion and wheel doesn't make up for their lack of mobility. My point still stands about fast bosses - You'll get mown down. Also, furthermore - You're a mage. Not an attacker - You'll only have SE if it's spare, you're not a priority, it won't be provided on most serious boss runs. So if the only skill an Evan has that's comparable to an AM is one max at earliest 170, how can they compare? Especially since Evans wouldn't be brought along for attack, they'd be brought along for Soulstone, which puts their bossing capabilities at level 180 at the earliest. Compared to an archmage's 130. Oh yes, Evan's are -so- strong, they can't beat out AM's speed EVER and they can't touch their DPM until 170 at the EARLIEST? Wow, overpowered, completely. That's before the balance patch. Sorry Evans. You're a hybrid SUPPORT class. |

Please direct me to my post where I say Evan is the "best at everything" class. |
