Why is it wrong to hit women?

I don't understand why it is wrong to hit women. Women have been complaining and whining for equality to men for hundreds, if not thousands of years. I believe it was Plato who mentioned something about female equality in Greece? Isn't he like 2,000 years old? Anyway, today, 2 girls were making fun of me behind my back, but I overheard it. I went to them and told them that its wrong to make fun of people behind their backs, but they continued to do so even when I was there. They even started to make fun of my parents and family. Then I made fun of how both girls hadn't lost their virginity yet, since they were the only 2 in the class who are still virgins. One of them got really mad and punched me really hard in the nose. Meanwhile, after a 10 minute bathroom break to clean my heavily bleeding nose, I punched the girl in her upper arm, and she started crying. I punched her with slightly less force than she used. We both got sent to the principle, and the principle called the police, because he is mentally ill, and can't handle situations like this. The only thing that the police said was that I could face a jail sentence for assaulting the girl, but the girl got excused from the principle's office. He said he would let it pass this one time. Anyway, I wanted to know, did I make the right decision? And also, why is it wrong to hit women? The "ladies first" rule is also completely stupid. If women want to be equal to men, then whoever is in line first should go first. And in countries which men are forced to join the army, women should also be forced to join. Vote on the poll below.

i say if they want truly equality and are acting bad then give them the full treatment and hit them like you would hit any guy, then ask them if they really want equality.

Woman are helpless compared to men in terms of assault because they are physically more weak than men. You were not right in hitting her, but you should have walked away.

After getting punched in the nose, yeah, I'd snap. I'd actually grab the obnoxious thing and ram her into a wall and give her a concussion. [/quote] last school year i actually got in trouble for calling a girl a name that she deserved cuz she was acting like it (cant say it on here) and she punched me in the face.

Your story is almost unbelievable in the amount of bullcrap by your school. The possibility of facing a JAIL SENTENCE for hitting her in the arm when she PUNCHED YOU IN THE FACE and made you BLEED? Utter bull. In this situation, you did have the right to physically retaliate (although both you should get in trouble :P) and its not even like you beat her up.

it isnt wrong to hit women o.0 thats just what is considered normal in this world. if a girl hits a guy, the guy gets laughed at if a guy hits a girl, other people will blame that guy and say he should find someone who is equal to him eitherway, the guy will be blamed. its stupid iknow o.o

Us MEN are most of the time physically superior to females in terms of strength. Using this knowledge, it is wrong for MEN to hit females knowing that we are stronger and have an advantage. You should've just pushed her or something anyways.

Being a female myself I'm all for equal rights mean equal slappings. Actually sometimes I'm wondering if I am really a female or some mysterious third sex. Women are also rumoured to feel pain MORE than men, by the way. I don't know which is true. I have a pain threshold that higher than that of both men and women. :S PS: I must add to that I find resorting to physical violence "you have lost the game", but that goes for women as well as men.
