Night Lords VS Corsairs. A Thief versus a Pirate. Every time someone asks "who has the best DPM" or "What is the best ranged class" there is always a big discussion about who's better between them both. So, I decided to make this little thread stating my opinion about it. If you think I should add or edit something (state reasons why) tell me and I'll do it . In case someone wonders; DPM = Damage Per Minute. SE = Sharp Eyes (BowMaster and Marksman only skill; 15% chance of dealing a critical hit that adds +40% damage. Its more useful for Night Lords than Corsairs). Apple = Its an item with the following effects: Heals 90% HP, heals 90% MP, Weapon Attack +100, Magic Attack +100, Weapon Defense +20 for 10 minutes (even though Night Lord's apples lasts 15 minutes if they have maxed Alchemist). I divided my analysis in damage, leveling speed, bossing ability and I added some stuff to have in mind. Damage: This is the most controversial point when comparing them. People say Night Lords are not so dependable on buffs to get the big numbers. However, I strongly dissagree with this. There are several reasons to believe they are. I don't want to get technical since there is a guide made by Knight5n1p3r explaining it already. They have the second highest DPM when they have Apple + SE. However, if they're not buffed, they have the lowest DPM of all the ranged non-magic classes (Bowmans, Marksmans, Corsairs). Average damage per minute (credits to Knight5n1p3r); Night Lord level 200 without any buffs other than his: 2,906,887.5 DPM Night Lord level 200 with Onyx Apple + SE: 8,940,000.375 DPM As you can see, when they get buffed, their damage skyrockets. On the other hand, Corsairs do not depend on buffs as much. They have a natural high damage % formula. Though, they have a con. To reach this damage they need to be on their battleship. The battleship has a certain ammount of HP determined by this formula: [(Skill Level * 4000)] + [(Character Level - 120) * 2000]. They last pretty much a while, but when it breaks, the damage drops around a 35% (I do not know exactly, it's just an approx.) Average damage per minute: Corsair level 200 without any buffs other than his: 6,129,883.74299276 DPM Corsair level 200 with Onyx Apple + SE 11,277,150.5576133 DPM Concluding this section, corsairs have a better solo and party damage as long as they're on their battleship. Leveling speed: Night Lords solo hunting gets one of the most low %/h of all classes. Why? They lacks of mobbing skills. However, It doesnt mean they will kill slowly at all. They compensate that with the greatest mobility of all classes. Even though a Night Lord is not as powerful as a corsair, an assassin is way more powerful than a gunslinger. 10-70 on an Rogue-Assassin can be made in a couple days since they have one of the greatest first-second job damage. It get's slower and slower. Corsairs were made for solo hunting. They give no party buffs whatsoever. They have quite good mobbing skills. Most of t

I have a Sair and a NL.... truth is.. they both suck In fact they all suck... bish,am,shad... only ones i've never bothering in making are warriors and bows... not my kind I'm going for a bucc and see how it goes. anyways, do we need more of these corsair vs NL threads? I believe basil is packed with these arguments.. we just gotta wait for flamers to join in to this new thread. Like the guy above says, play for fun not for damage. Funwise NL is funner (to me, varies from person to person)... damagewise sair owns.. Why? My NL has like at least double the funding my sair has and can't even do 3/4 the dmg the sair does. Easy solution, test for yourself. Edit: No i didnt read the whole thing either.

I loved it! For a second I thought this was an infomational guide- but then I was like - OH! It's this dude's opinion! Though, at the end, I still believe Corsairs are better, just as for a Spearman, spears are better at the end. Patient People - Corsairs/Spears Impatient People - Night Lords/Pole Arms I am impatient, but ... let's try out corsair!

[quote] SufSurf : Bossing: Judging who is better depends on the situation. A moving boss could be way more faster and easier for a Night Lord than a Corsair. A good example would be BigFoot. A Night Lord can take it down with no problem while a corsair might have a hard time with it. BUT, if we put as example Anego (Female Boss), the corsair would kill it faster. (This is solo bossing by the way.) What does "could be way more faster" mean? Why is a Night Lord better than a Sair at killing Big Foot but not Anego? I'm not saying you're wrong, but unless you have some evidence, it doesn't sound extremely convincing This part is really up to you, but in my opinion, the Night Lord wins. Other things to have in mind: - Night Lords have less HP than Corsairs (meaning Corsairs can boss earlier). - Night Lords will probably be more requested on boss runs since they have Haste + Apples last longer + they're good at it. What? lol. I get the Haste part, but nobody cares about how long apples last when you have 100 of them :P What's "they're good at it" supposed to mean? Are you saying NL's have more control than Sairs? - Night Lords can't stun/freeze/burn. Corsairs can freeze, stun with a 100% chance and burn depending on the skill build they followed. - Corsairs are not slow at all. They are obviously not as fast as the Night Lords, but they have Dash + the Recoil Shot + Wings combo (which acts like a nerfed FJ + Jump) but they can't use it while on their battleship. - Corsairs are way cheaper than Night Lords. Eternal bullets go for 200k while Balanced Furys go for 50m In Mardia . - On the next balancing patch, Corsairs will be able to shoot close ranged and Double Shot + Burst Fire will have an higher damage %. - Night Lord's avoidability is way higher than Corsair's.
