quackcanada : religion makes me LOL, also to be honest, i believe that nothing can exist outside the known realm or dimension we can actually perceive... if we can't see, hear, touch, smell, or taste it... it doesn't exist...
So I guess carbon monoxide doesn't exist.

petergwon
Cataclysm : Exactly. However Logic > Faith. So i find God a irrational hypothesis. OT: Nothing.
Exactly. That's an opinion which you are entitled to and so is everybody else...
But that would mean tons of things don't exist that science says exist...
gath : I hate to say this, but stop linking to that video. Summarize the video, cite it as a source, but don't say "go here for answer" If you honestly expect anyone on basil to watch a one-hour lecture at 11:30 at night (at least where I am), you're fooling yourself. I doubt anyone would watch it anyway, even if they had the time. @petergwon: The Big Bang relies on faith as well. Faith that the instruments work correctly, faith that people aren't hallucinating, faith that there aren't errors in the observations, faith that the conclusions are right, faith that the astronomers know what the hell they're talking about... You get my point.
I link that video because a common argument from people who oppose the big bang is "matter can't come from nothing!" and that video explains how it can. I don't expect anybody to watch it, and I would summarize it but it's kind of difficult to summarize very complex concepts into a couple sentences. Hence why the video takes 1 hour to explain it.

so i'm guessing if we died from CO or CO2 or many things that r poisonous that have no smell or taste or anything to do with the senses it doesnt exist... if u can die then obviously it was felt... man do ppl have to take everything so literally...
gath : OMG air doesn't exist! @above Read my earlier post about how the Big Bang relies on faith. It uses science instead of history to make people have that faith though, so it's considered better.
and neither does electromagnetic radiation that exists outside of our range of frequencies to see.

The big bang essentially was a point in time in which the universe SUDDENLY became exponentially bigger Before it, the universe still existed, but was much smaller and wasn't growing by much. Edit: If you assume String Theory to be true, the big bang was just the collision of parallel universes colliding together in their separate membranes, so before the big bang, infinite other parallel universes would still exist~
kickapoo : Dude they have no full proof that the Big bang was true, thats why they call it the Big Bang "Theory".
There's a big difference between a "theory" and a "scientific theory" (such as the Big Bang), that you might wanna look into.

i believe The "Big Bang" is a recycling process. so there was a universe before this one

petergwon
gath : You must have faith that these people know what they're doing.
Different kind of faith. Faith in science is faith in what you can see through the records of experimentation, etc while faith in religion is faith in the unknown, faith in what the human eyes can't see, what the human mind can't comprehend.
