Naruto vs Naruto Shippuden

What's the difference between the two? Are they based on the same plot or something? Are they linked together in some way or are they different? It seems like the shippuden is a bit farther ahead because it goes right into some naruto episode. If they are basically the same, which one do you recomend me to watch?

"shippuuden" is sort of a sequel. just start shippuuden after naruto 220 (or 140 if you don't want to watch a ton of filler). you won't get a lot of what's going on if you just watch shippuuden

Naruto Shippuden is basically Naruto + a few years. In Naruto, the main characters (Naruto, Sasuke, etc...) are all 13 years of age or so, in Naruto Shippuden, these characters are about 15, 16, or 17 years old (I'm not sure, I don't follow the series that well). If you want the entire story, start from Naruto. If you just want some sweet action, start from Naruto Shippuden. (:

shippuuden is when naruto grows up and gets a lot stronger, basically shippuuden is when naruto starts getting GOOD. sadly, most of the people who hate naruto watch the first "part," later on it gets very intense

shippuuden is when naruto has grown up, and isnt all noob anymore its when he comes back from training w/ jirayai ( he leaves to go training @ the end of the reg "Naruto") more epic everything's less logical, and more like magic O_o imo

Shippuuden has more of a plot, and a hell of a lot more action. Naruto itself, or "Part 1" as they call it, is basically Chunin Exams, break and basic training with Jaraiya, more Chunin Exams, Konoha invasion/Orochimaru and Third Hokage fight. After that, its all "SASSSSSUKKKEEEE"

Shippuuden is the continued storyline of naruto but 3 years later the main characters are basicly naruto and sasuke, sasuke obtains a powerful sharingan and decides to destroy the leaf, naruto obtains sage mode and trys to stop him, akatski plans to cast a sharingan over the moon to control people the kages wont let him and they start a ninja war thats basicly the storyline so far.

Shippuden is the name of the 2nd part of the story in anime . In the manga this part is refered to as "Part 2," (Post) Timeskip (skip for Naruto to 15 years old) or simply just Naruto.

[/quote] @3above: I don't think the brief exchange of blows against Sasuke is character dev for Sakura and Kakashi, unless your refering to earlier arcs.

Akatsuki makes an appearance in Naruto (Itachi and Kisame, as well as Zetsu), but it doesn't exactly have much of an active roll in Part 1. Yeah. Sasuke cant develop any further, I think. He's evil, sort of a lunatic, and now clearly very powerful, thats all.
