I have three main problems with the fact that you can't jump and fire normally with Rapid Fire... 1.) You can jump and fire with every other shooting skill through every other job advancement. Why not 4th job? 2.) Rapid Fire starts off weaker than Burst Fire, diminishing your knock back ability. (Yes, I know you can interrupt with Recoil Shot, but still...) 3.) You sprout a BIG-*** set of GLOWING WINGS when you Rapid Fire! I mean, come ON! You shouldn't just be able to jump, you should get some sort of Yosemite Sam hang time effect going on. Now, I know Battleship Cannon/Torpedo are the Corsair's main offensive skills in 4th job, but that doesn't mean Rapid Fire should be extra janky for no reason. [End Rant]

1) You must not have mastered jumping and shooting at the same time yet. I have no problem being able to do this. I may not be able to do it 100% of the time, but I'd say the majority of the time I can pull it off. 2) Rapid fire's virtue isn't pure power. It is rapid fire's speed that makes it outdamage burst fire. In reality, even max rapid fire won't put out bigger numbers than burst fire, but it will provide higher dps because of it's speed. 3) I don't like the wings either.

I'm not trying to play Devil's Advocate, but why would you need to jump rapid fire? I don't see that many BM's doing jump hurricane.

I can jump+shoot fine. I'm talking about initiating a shot at the apex of a jump... Handy for catching things that are above you rather than on level with you. Also, I don't believe you can 'fade away' shooting using that method. Which is to say, jump back, turn and shoot as you're moving backward. Good for keeping the fire on a target advancing on you... especially if you can't knock it back. 2.) I understand the damage is better overall. That's not my issue. Being able to stun a charging enemy that has too many HP for you to destroy before it reaches you is fairly handy IMO. 3.) ...well, yeah. I mean why wings? You don't even get wings with Wings. :P

tbh the wings look a little bit queer.. its not very pirate like.. lets see on one hand we have... A BIG BAD BATTLESHIP, YARR! and then PRETTY LITTLE WINGS! "Fear me while i shoot REALLY quickly and shout "SPARKLE FINGERS"

The only reason you won't use ice splitter is if you can kill them before they attack you. This fade away jump shooting shouldn't be done that often anyway. You should always be trying to move forward. If a monster does spawn on you, I suggest recoil -> ice splitter in the air -> start attacking when you hit the groud. Ever since my 17x lvls, I have never had a problem with rapid fire. I wouldn't even suggest putting points into rapid fire until around that point anyway. The only possible monsters that might be advancing on you that you might kill regularly would probably be pap and anego(tell me if you can think of any others). Anego is easy because you shouldn't get hit at all and therefore shouldn't ever be out of your ship. Pap is more interesting and hopefully you will have your ship when 2nd body comes out if you can't kb it without cannon. 2) *points up to statement about freezing monsters*

Well, you do make a good arguement, Frei. I guess my beef is really just with a 4th job skill being nerfed. I'd rather not have to wait for lvls 17x to use Rapid Fire since you pretty much pick up new firing skills with each job advancement before that. With Cannon and Torpedo being dependent on the Battleship (currently made 90% of balsa wood) I'd just like to have the full freedom of movement I enjoyed with double and triple shot while using Rapid Fire. I'd even have settled for a slightly reduced rate of fire to keep the damage higher... Earlier DeepRuin mentioned BM not jumping and doing hurricane. Well, that makes sense given that archers DON'T jump and shoot, which is why they do higher ranged damage. Even Night Lords can jump and triple or sextuple fire... for tremendous numbers usually. Ahh well. At least we can all agree that the wings are entirely unnecessary.
