Companionship and protection. Marriage allows for many rights, especially with health care. Not everyone wants kids and not everyone is suited to have kids.

*sigh* Marriage isn't all about children. It's a holy union joining two souls to one under the Father. It's about getting from under the wing of your parents/guardian/ect. It's about sharing your life with someone else for eternity. Sadly, 50% of marriages end in devoice, which God hates. He said that He finds it detestable.

[/quote] that's like asking why date someone unless you decide right then and there that you want to dedicate your lives to your children you never thought of having. some people like commitment to each other, that doesn't necessarily mean they want commitment to children.
