I've been hearing a lot of hype about this game, and I was thinking maybe I should introduce a new game to myself. Can someone give me a general description of gameplay in the Monster Hunter series?

It's a essentially a massive grind. It's a game where you have to be able to recognise a monster's patterns and only attack when there's an opening. Charging into the monster thinking that's it's a hack and slash game will only get you killed. There's no lock on system, which turns a lot of people off. You craft weapons and armour using materials from monsters and various ores/bugs you gather in the field. There's no level up system, so you can't expect to get through it by mindlessly killing things. In the portable versions, a single boss monster would generally take 10-15 minutes at most. (Depends on the monster) I've heard that in Tri monsters hit for quite a lot less compared to previous games, but have more hp to compensate for it. I haven't gotten my copy yet, so I'm not too sure about the last part.

So since there is no level up system, you get better through upgrading weapons?

Think of runescape concept but better graphics, most of the time fighting bosses with strategies and precision, making better equips/weapons, and online. But basicaly a better runescape in a nutshell(except for the runescape battle system) =P

And to be honest I don't think many 40 year old pervs have the patience to play a game like Monster Hunter :P

The Nintendo Magazine i buy said nothing about that in their review.
Yeah, I plan on using both Wii Speak and the USB keyboard. I plan on picking up a cheap USB keyboard when I get my copy of Tri :D Consider getting the classic controller pro if you don't want controls to suck. I don't know though, maybe it's just because I'm used to the PSP controls.
Yes; I think it has to be a USB (There might be a wireless Wii keyboard somewhere out there) There are 2 usb ports on the back of the Wii, in which you can connect your keyboard. Question: Is online Peer to Peer or dedicated servers? ..Wait what am I asking, I'm pretty sure it's peer to peer..
