Rate my speech to convince my mom to let me see Gaga live!

My mom really hates lady gaga with all of her heart... and to her she has "Sold her soul like madonna", so here is the speech i came up with to convince my mom differn't! Me: Hey mom, can i go see Lady GaGa live on August 3rd? Mom: No! what's so great about her anyways...? ME: mom.. remember when you were 17 and you had a chance to go see the Osmonds perform live back in San diego? Mom: yes... why? ME: well... remember how you always told me you wanted to go so badly but you couldn't because your mom was just a jerk and she wouldn't let your Father pick you up to go drive you to the concert because she threatened to sue your dad for taking you when legally she owned you back when your parents got divoreced. and you always regretted not being able to see Donny Osmond dance around in his purple socks? well... to me this is my one chance to see a group of dancing mormons that i've always wanted to see. this is my one chance to see the Osmonds. i know how you said if you could you would go back in time to see them. and i'm already 16 and this will be my first concert ever! (I turn 16 in May and the concert is on August 3rd.) so please mom... i really need to go see Gaga.. =[ Mom: 0-0 ok... Now, do you think she'd let me go see Mama Monster? D:< i really hope so =[ EDIT: and for those of you who are going to call me a troll/attention whore etc. i'm being 100% serious about this. and wanted to see your opinions...

In all honesty if I was your mom I'd reject your argument. Comparing lady gaga to the osmonds is a terrible way to approach your mom. You also don't want to bring up her past experiences/failures. 1. parents don't like to be reminded of their past. It takes away from their credibility as parents to have their past/mistakes brought up. Secondly, the past is the past. In 20 years you'll look back at lady gaga and wonder what the heck you were doing trying to see her anyway. Parents aren't the same people they were either, so trying to use their past as a bargaining chip will get you nowhere with their current personalities. (would you appreciate your parents using your past as a way to convince you of something?) 2. Comparing the Osmonds to lady gaga is a very poor argument. Have you seen what the osmonds looked like? They were a dancing family act. Lady gaga is sex on stage. The two are in no way related, and using this comparison in your conversation will only hurt your argument. I hope this helps. Personally I wouldn't let my children see her either. She's a very poor role model (vocal talent set aside). I have many nieces and nephews and I'm ashamed that they know the words to her songs, because most of them are too young to understand that most of her lyrics are suggestive and harmful to the image of women as a whole. Let alone the appearance she chooses to portray herself in. All that said, my views toward lady gaga are non-related to the advice I gave you about your argument, and I hope that helps you in your attempt to convince your mom. (even if I think she's right).
