NOTE! This guide contains 'Tofu tags' which will only work when/if this gets stickied and when tags are enabled. For some preview images of what they look like, see these: Title Training section Skill Build section Equipment section Please help to make this guide as best and complete as possible! [image=http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/8731/maplestoryevanbannerdra.jpg] We've all seen the flood of training threads and skill builds from the newly released Evan class, but disappointed at some of the results I've taken the initiative to make a more expanded and thorough guide, combining all aspects and collaborative information brought together by the community, with the hope to cover any and all concerns and questions you have regarding your Evan character. All areas may and probably will be modified at later dates. Update notices will be posted here. 04/14/2010 - Guide created 04/15/2010 - Guide posted 04/20/2010 - Tofu tags added, renamed, created banner, added Equips section, removed useless sections 04/22/2010 - Added more links and videos, totally revamped training section with map links, HP and EXP. More tofu tag previews! INDEX • What is an Evan? • Storyline Synopsis • Why make an Evan? • Evan Flaws • Important Notes Before Starting Your Adventure • AP Distribution • Leveling Guide • Skill Builds • Training Tips • Equipment • Useful Guides and Links • Credits and Copyright Disclosure WHAT IS AN EVAN? Evan, a character class released in April, 2010 of Global MapleStory. It's the second of 5 potential 'Legend' classes, proceeding the release of warrior Arans in late 2009. Evan is a magician type class utilizing a Dragon partner for magical attacks. STORYLINE SYNOPSIS WARNING! If you wish to not read spoilers about the beginning quests of this class, please skip this section. Evan, a young boy living and working on his family's farm awakes with a strange tattoo on his hand after a mysterious dream of walking in a mystical forest to come across a large dragon. The next day while helping his father and brother on the farm he stumbles off a cliff, landing in a similar mystical forest. Here he finds a large glowing egg. Upon closer inspection he touches it, creating a pact between him and whatever lurks inside. Through little effort Evan hatches the egg to find his new adventure companion, Mir, a baby dragon. With the intention to grow together and become stronger while helping to preserve the peace and tranquility of all life, they set out on and adventure into the Maple world. WHY MAKE AN EVAN? As MapleStory ages we're seeing many more classes being introduced. So what makes an Evan right for you? Well, are you looking for something that: • Is able to attack from a distance and close quarters? • Uses several different elemental skills, including the ability to freeze, stun and push enemies? • Projects it's skills through a partnered and evolving Onyx dragon? • Has almost indisputably the highest raw damage and damage over time of all magician clas

Pretty decent guide in my opinion.

Definitely superior to the current guide, although I'd advise 1 Magic Shield to start the 5th Mastery since, even then, it nullifies 11% of the damage. Also, start with 1 Teleport in the 2nd Mastery since it's still useful and fun, even at level 1. I'd also like to suggest maybe prioritising Lightening Bolt during 3rd Mastery. I found, in my own experience, that keeping the level of Lightening Bolt twice the level of Magic Guard worked fine at Cpq.

As for a build for the 3rd tier, it's entirely debatable. Most people don't CPQ before 40, unless trade wins or free wins, in which case most would spawn masses of small monsters in a narrow map to be killed with fire circle over rombots. Also, I wanted the builds to be as straightforward as possible "it's recommended to max this first than this" over "at 31 put 1 point magic guard and 2 points in lightning, at 32.. etc" Thanks for your input. It seems to be really difficult to keep this guide alive, if people can help by posting criticism and helping to get is stickied (if you believe it's worth it) then it would be appreciated.

Great Guide, it'd look way cooler when stickied. Just a suggestion but maybe in the training area mention which areas are pot burn, and what skills to use, fire circle or ice breath.

Stickied guides still can't use tofu tags. At least you're giving mrbasil incentive to finalize the new guide section already.

Meh... another sub-par evan guide...

Why don't you actually be constructive and explain how it's sub par, or why others are more useful? Oh right, it's because you've got your guide and believe that it can't be replaced. I do believe mine is better organized, more concise and legible than yours, and isn't even close to polished and definite. I've taken research from personal experience, the continual contributions of the public and past research. I have no useless walls of text, no drawn out skill guide, and no redundant information all of which can be directed to by a simple link. Your guide was "sub par", hence the whole reason for writing another. Simplicity, not at the sacrifice of information, is what makes a good guide. I could remove pages of text from your guide and it would still be the same. If you've got nothing insightful to say here, on my thread, then don't. And yeah, I had no idea B put tags in scraps and not stickies, it seems pretty ridiculous that he'd script one area and not the other. Regardless, I'll keep editing it with tofu tags included, hopefully push him along a bit to get the system in place. It really would help a lot of guide writers, as you personally know, to make much more attractive and convenient guides.
Jumbojet777 : Meh... another sub-par evan guide...
Ignore this guy. He owns the current sticky; he's just jealous that someone wrote builds for all 10 Masteries, instead of the most basic 4, and a training guide which goes past level 50, which, let's face it, are the 2 most important parts of a guide. If your guide's lacking in any way, it's the nifty little extras, like a Quest Guide and Reg-LUK vs. LUK-less.
When someone's written a quest guide as thorough as this , I'm not even going to try to reinvent the wheel. His guide is linked in mine. As for writing a huge debate about AP builds, that's already been done time and time again in the magician forum, I don't really see the importance of it in an exclusively Evan guide. Either way I've only sat down twice with this guide so far, and depending on how much more time I put into it who knows. Next I plan on expanding the training section with monster info and maps, maybe even some tips for each spot. I also aim to revise the skill build section, taking into account alternate builds and better explaining skills and the benefits of each one. I'll also be adding a lot more useful links, and some useful training videos, sprites, and animations. It will all come in time.
