So for my English h/w, I have to get 8 quotes from The Catcher in the Rye and 2 quotes apiece from two related texts. I already have 6 quotes from Catcher in the Rye, but I am having trouble finding the other two. The trouble is that I need a literary technique which is shown in the quotes, but it is very hard to find a quote with a suitable one, as they are all pretty much just what the main character is thinking at the time. Also, for my related texts, I have chosen Lord of The Flies and Huckleberry Finn. Does anyone know any quotes which deal with relationships, or any which deal with concepts similar to those in the catcher in the rye? Thanks to anyone who can help.

DrkShadowI've never read that book before, but try looking for quotes that show irony or foreshadowing. Also look for repetition, tone, or words that give off a certain image together (like if a paragraph uses many words that make you think of a dark, creepy place). Don't forget irony can also include situations where a character says something that shows they do not know about a certain fact while the reader knows it from reading elsewhere. It's 3:30 AM right now and I can't really think, but hopefully this somewhat helps =]

Lol... I didn't read a single piece of English literature (in the curriculum) from grades 10 - 12. Yet I still managed to get a HA+ for it lawl. Go me. I just read chapter summaries on the net at bare minimum to get me through tests and exams :D All that useless vocabulary, who needs it... Edit: I do recall doing those books during HS but for the life of me I couldn't even tell you what happens them. Lord of the Flies has vague elements of cannibalism and something to do about being stranded on an island, that's as far as my memory goes lol.
