Are proxy servers illegal?

I want to know if proxy servers are illegal and if I should use one. I can still log in, except it asks me to re-register. Instead of that, I close that page and open up a new maplestory and I'm shown as "Logged in." I'm not quite sure what's wrong, but if anyone out there knows, share it here. Also, I dunno if I should be using one if I can basically log in, only my account is screwed up.

No, they are not illegal. That's like saying Limewire is illegal - No, it's just a tool ; What someone uses it for, well I can't speak for them.
