Introduction People always complain to me: "Man, MapleStory's lame. I have no fun and my slinger is lame." Well sir, that's because you are doing it wrong! Here's the thought processes behind slingers as they level, which you should follow to obtain maximum happiness. Creating your character They think long and hard about their IGN. Pirates are required to have more original names than classes like sins because they're pirates, and them's the rules. 1st Job Wow! They pewpew so fast! Training is fast because it's 1st job, and 1st job is fast for everyone. 2nd Job They pewpew better because they just got mastery. They get to sit & spam their mob moves at mutae, then roids, then mp3, then wr. WR shows off the variety of their skills because they have to move around. Training speed is slowly dropping but they don't care because they're about to get to 3rd job! On occasion, they hang out with the other cool kids who also picked slinger on top of the wooden structure in henesys market. 3rd Job They pewpew way high numbers and that makes them happy. The tough weak levels are over. Back to WR to enjoy their damage. Now they're at newties: pewpew pewpew pewpew. If they were to suffer a stroke right now their character would probably train the same way because their face landed on the pewpew key. They pewpew newties for forty levels. They don't really notice because they've suffered a stroke. At this point in every slinger's career, a friend of the mapler will walk into the room, notice their unconscious body, call for help, and personally save their life. The mapler and friend become close over this life changing experience. At this time the mapler is happy because their character magically leveled from level 80 to 120. 4th Job After drinking some OJ and eating breakfast. The mapler advances to their final job. After some quick quests, they obtain a ship, which lets them pewpew larger objects like rocks and buffalo at their enemy. After a period more at newties, they join boss runs and have the most fun out of every class because they're unique and the strongest. Level 200 After they get to 200, they are officially the best character possible in the game. They either die or get jobs or whatever real people do. If any of you believe any of this to be lies, believe that not every high level corsair has suffered a stroke and been saved, I ask that high level corsairs to post here and to tell them that this is how it is. If they say otherwise, they are obviously just jealous sins posing as corsairs. That, or something went horribly wrong during the stroke and the person died, in which case the friend that discovers the corpse is to play their character for them. I have not actually played a Corsair, but I can read minds, so that's how I know all this. Terminology I've had complaints that my thread is "too difficult to understand". Nearly every thread in the pirate section falls under one of five categories: 1. Price check on an item 2. Where do I train? 3. Gunslinger or Brawler? 4. Where do I get item X? 5. Skill clarification thread Of course there are some useful ones, but they're ridiculously outnumbered by useless threads. Before a particular thread should be shunned/banned, basil really ought to reduce these useless threads. An accurate, useful price check section A training guide people actually use A sticky covering slinger vs. brawler would probably stop the daily thread about it. And then you'd have to do the impossible: Get basilers to use the stickies and/or read existing threads before posting. Before that, this thread relates about as much to pirates as 'What is "YARR"?'. And they don't need to be deleted as much as forgotten, because it's not like they're blocking better threads...
