Hey, I've been having lots of controversities between MM builds, the pros and cons. And I would appreciate it, if you MM's told me what build YOU used, and that I can use once I get to 120. Is it fun? The Pros and Cons? Thank You!

Marksman is definitely fun. Most builds initially start off by getting some points into sharp eyes and then a bit into Marksman Boost. Probably at around 130, different builds branch off, most notably Snipe or Pierce where as Pierce is for marksmen that are more training oriented and Snipe is for marksmen that prefer bossing. Very general, but simplistic (hopefully)

ZealousLoserMy specific build wasn't exactly fun =( But it got me to to a pretty sustainable point. I maxed out SE first and foremost, but I put some points in skills for fun/help. Frostprey is pretty necessary, but you only need 1 point in it immediately. Dragon Breath is more fun than necessary. I wouldn't recommend it until your inbetween skills. MMB should recieve atleast 1 point for the 5% boost. My suggestion for first 3 sp. 1 Frostprey 1 MMB 1 Peirce Most people have a problem with the lack of SE, but I say, 10-20-30 second SE is nothing to be proud of and you waste more time casting it then its benefits. I say wait till 121 for 30 second SE. As for SE first maxing I suggest putting it to ATLEAST level 9. At that point a minute and a half is usually enough time to do some serious damage and rebuff yourself/party. MMB will by far boost your damage potential, and I would rather boost it over SE but I did both so =P My build was dumb but Hey it worked for me. I alternated with SE and MMB +3 MMB +3 SE I got either +1 attack or 30 more seconds of SE.

My build: 120: 1 FP, 2 SE 121: 1 MMB, 1 DB, +1 SE 122-123: +6 SE 124: +2 MMB, 1 Pierce 125-132: +24 MMB 133-135: +9 Pierce 136: +1 SE, 2 Snipe 137-139: +8 Snipe, +1 Pierce 140-141: +6 Pierce Current: 27 MMB 17 Pierce 10 Snipe 10 SE 1 FP 1 DB Looks odd? Sure it is, but it's looking kinda clean in this perspective. I hit 120 in February, the same day 4th job was released in eMS. Since then my build has been mainly controlled by the availability of mastery books and my wallet. I had up to 15 saved SP at times. I got 27 MMB early on since it's the only book other than DB that's commonly available. 90% mastery is wonderful and raised my average damage considerably. 10 Pierce isn't exactly great, but it was only last week I finally passed Pierce 20 - the book only shows up in FM once a month. 10 Snipe isn't all that useful either - though it's helped at Ergoth a few times - but I got it before I realized just how rare and expensive Snipe 30 is. The storybook was hard to get too - it's even rarer now than it was when I bought it. 10 SE is enough for both partying and bossing. Getting two points into it at level 120 really helped since there was nobody with a higher level SE to party with anyways. I would've left it at 9 if I had other skills to put points in at the time. The timer on 2 SE was annoyingly short, but the damage increase was just incredible. I guess if you can party with someone who has a higher level SE you won't need it this quick, though. 1 DB was just for fun. Newties were released when I was level 116, and I was there for a long, long time during which DB doesn't really help. But it WAS fun to have, and useful once I started going to skeles. 1 FP is vital. Can't do without it - especially since I left Eagle at 15. I've passed Pierce 30 just today, so I intend to max it over the next few levels. After that I am less decided. I've passed Snipe 20, and raising it to 20 would reduce my cooldown from 160 seconds to 60. But I don't know if I would really find it all that useful outside of GPQ unless it's maxed, and I can't afford Snipe 30. I can't afford SE 20 either, so the most useful skill I have left is probably MW, which makes some sense since I usually grind solo - and it's sort of an uncommon skill even now. I expect book prices to drop in the future. Since they gave us the anti-leech exp distribution last month I hope books are found faster than people can be bothered to grind a marksman to a level where they need the more expensive books.

well, i went with a "mixed build". being pressured by my guild (being the only 4th job bowman on a zakumming guild, and one of the 3 in alliance is a heavy weight lol) i got my SE to 19 and my MMB to 9, then stopped. after that, seeing as i sucked at training, i pumped up pierce to 21, and right now i'm maxing snipe i got most of my books back when i was lvl 8x, when there was a HT hacking spree, since some of them are HT-only drops (like snipe 30), but, i recently failed 4 out of my 4 snipe 30 books, so i was forced to lok into FM for more. they weren't that expensive (5m for 2 more books) but their rareness is what matters. in bello, SE20 and 30 are both under 10m, and still, they are a MM's second most expensive book (second to MW20/30) considering the rest of our books can be found for free, or in the range of 100k-5m

I had been stocking books ever since 4th job came out, back when Firestone18 was lvl8x XD! I had like at least 3 of all kinds of books. This made deciding what build to take much easier. Too bad I used the most important books on Firestone18, so I had to start stocking some again when it was banned. Thank god I had stored the rest on a mule account, because of the ammount of books =D! Too bad those MW books are so expensive >.>... Anyway, back to your build. I recommed at lvl120: 2SE, 1FP. FP is much better and cheaper than eagle, and getting SE is pretty much vital. lvl1 only lasts 10seconds, that's too short, 2 is fine. It increases your average dmg by like? 40%? That's way more than the time that's wasted casting SE . After that, I'd get 1 MMB at 121. Other skills that are handy to have at lvl1: DB, and Snipe. Then getting a decent lvl of SE is very useful, having to cast it every 20 seconds will start to be a drag. lvl6 or 9 is what most find decent enough, maxing it early is mostly a waste of points, they can be spend more wisely. After that it's pretty much up to the player I think. I recommend maxing either Pierce or Snipe first though, so you shine at the place you want. Pierce for training, snipe for bossing (mainly). You don't need a high lvl of MMB for Pierce to be succesful. lvl1 MMB already provides you with 65% mastery, that's very decent . If you maxed one, it's an option to max the one you didn't max yet right after. I prefer that, but some may not. Whatever you choose to do, make sure you'll have fun yourself. Don't let anyone force you to max anything, it's your story.

I started searching for builds after I did the "now traditional" 9 se, 1 fp, 1 db, screw points, screw points, screw points :D I ended up going for a pierce build, because I was a very slow trainer and having training even harder while getting snipe didn't seem like my cup of tea. I figured afterward, since I was pretty much training on just newties and crimson guardians, I could of went snipe and had a lot more fun, imo, anyways I just went 16 marksman boost>21 pierce>30 snipe (in process), after sharp eyes, frostprey and more. That's the thing I absolutely love about marksmen. There are so many varieties of skill builds, and not man get criticized. Finally, there are tons of important skills that last all the way til 16x, such as pierce and snipe, in my opinion, they are more of the "core" skills for setting apart sniper 2.0's, and marksman :P Then, there are the support skills that improve our abilities a lot, such as marksman boost, sharp eyes and even maple warrior. This gives a lot of freedom and personal preferences into your skill build, but as you start your marksman-hood, its a real decision between having great supporting skills that people choose to max out first, like sharp eyes and even marksman boost, or trying out new attacks like pierce and snipe. Bossing vs Training, for this one. In short, there are so much personal preference that goes into this and almost half of the sniper/marksman skills are used in conjunction of each other. Takes a lil control and skill to decide and play :P
Actually, the whole thing about 20 second SE's recasting outweighing it's benefits didn't exactly apply for me... at level 119, I was getting 11% an hour on newts solo, and with nothing but lv 2 SE at 120, it became 14.5% an hour. It IS however, highly recommended that you get at least 9 SE. I personally went extreme and did this: 120: 1 FP, 2 SE 121: 3 SE 122: 1 SE, 2MMB 123: 3 MMB 124: 1 MMB, 1 DB, 1 Snipe Then I worked on Piercing first. My reasoning behind my build is simple: I don't want to be stuck with newts parties for another 10 levels, so I put a bit into SE (difference between 6 and 9 to me is negligible). Then I raised boost to 70% mastery because it actually helps. Frostprey is an absolute must, as it really helps with training, and DB serves as an alternative to PKB. Snipe was there for the lulz.

You have to take your fundings and availability of books into consideration. I don't know bout the ammount of SE-books because that's always been fluctuating alot, but sadly Pierce is hella rare, and so is MMB30 . It might take a few weeks finding enough books for them to work, but it's certainly worth it. Though, if I were you, I'd put less into SE and MMB than that and max Pierce earlier. The difference between lvl21 and 30 is about 1360% dmg without critical factored in on 6 monsters :P. @above: Not that extreme, I've done so too :P, even earlier (and so might have done others too). I had 4 SE, 1 Snipe, 1 DB, 1 FP, 1 MMB, 0 in the rest when I maxed Pierce. It's even possible to go extremer/more extreme (<-which is the right one?) than that.
PoleInface : But Is it good overall?
IF you find MMB30, Pierce 20 and 30 and have enough money for the ancient book and SE20 and 30, then yes :P. Though I'd max Pierce before getting SE and MMB into 2x points if I were you. The 9 points increase Pierce's dmg by so much, all that SE and MMB together won't cut it.
