I'm in a little need of help in the way of my skill build. as it is, i have been hunting bs30 for a while now and there hasnt been any bs30s in the fm for about a week or so in kradia. i have still been putting points into skills however, because i think that lvling up shifter is always great. next lvl i'll have lvl10 shifter and lvl 20bs, with 1venom, 1assassinate and 1smokescreen. thing is i have done the quest for taunt and im not to sure if i should put points into it. I know if i get bs30 soon, ill bring that up to 29 but as it stands, it looks like i'll have to put points into some other skill. I dont want to raise ss past 10, because i think a 20% avoid is good for a long time. i dont need mw, because my guild/training partners all have mw20. right now im either thinking of lvling assassinate (and i have both assn20 and 30 books), or to put points into taunt. my NL friend has lvl 1 taunt and he says he only uses it at pypq. i know NLs and Shads are very different but im wondering if there is a lvl i can leave taunt at and get a marginally better exp rate and then focus on either finishing bs or lvling assassinate, or do i just have to max taunt (i have taunt20 as well). your input will be much appreciated.

you should get lvl 1 taunt for sure but do not max it. mine is only lvl 10 im maxing it right now taunt raises drop rate, def and exp by a certain % (lvl 1 is 11%) so if you raised it too much then the def of that monster would be way too high

I have taunt 11 right now, and I'm at like 83% exp, so tonight I should have 14 into taunt. I went this route: 1 into venom 29 into bstep(cuz my pescas adds 1 into bstep) Maxed Shadow Shifter 9 into Maple Warrior 11 into taunt(will be 14 tonight) A lot of player builds won't max out taunt early since it only increases training speed and not damage, and a majority of players really like high damage which does equate to a faster training speed, but not as fast as taunt. Max level taunt is 40% more exp, def and droprate from a monster. While the 40% more weapon def does sound unappealing, you should use taunt when the group of mobs is 1 bstep away from being dead, or 2 if you can't manage 1 on all of the mobs to max training speed. Leveling with shifter feels slow, but it's actually faster than training normally. Normally I get around 10% an hour on skeles, with lvl 11 taunt I get around 12-13%(I 3 hit skeles, yeah I know I suck XD). Another plus training with taunt is that it makes training not as boring, because you do indeed get more drops. I notice that I get 1 more piece of time per training session. On 2x drop I get around 8 pieces of time in an hour, on a whole card (using 2x drop buff) I can get an entire weapon in 1 session. I'd rather spend my nx on 2x exp cards though, so I don't really do 2x drop card THAT often. NLs should not use taunt during training as it slows them down ALOT, but thats only what my NL friends tell me. I'd really like to see a NL use it properly and tell me how it works for them, maybe I'll ask my NL brother to try it out. I decided to get taunt to 30 right now since, I don't have any other ability I want to max that will increase my training speed or the rate at which I acquire pieces of time. Assassinate is nice, but it's a 1v1 bossing ability and doesn't help with grinding whatsoever. With level 11 taunt, I get ~8543 exp per chief oblivion guardian, normally they yield 7060. With level 1 taunt, I would get ~7847 exp per chief oblivion guardian. 696 exp increase over 1 mob, and 6960 exp over 10 of those mobs. Over time it does yield a lot more exp. Level 30 taunt=9884 exp per chief oblivion guardian, a whopping 2037 more exp per chief oblivion guardian...even if you don't hit as hard as your peers you will level faster than they do with maxed taunt. Killing a group of 4 of them will yield as if there were 5.6 of them and then some. Group of 4 chief oblivion guardians: (maxed taunt - no taunt=difference in exp) 39536-28240=11296 11296/7060 exp=1.6...4+1.6=5.6 Hope that helps you out a bit, I tried not to hit you with a wall of text. Good Luck!

Pfft I mostly train solo skeles or in ToT. This is just mostly mob grinding...bish as a partner is much faster indeed, but after the leech patch most of the bish's I know quit outright, so I couldn't tell ya honestly :P

Instead, it reduces your damage by 40% or so.

Huh, so it does! I just always thought it meant weapon defense. I don't really know why it reduces genesis' damage by an actual 40%. Cuz my normal bstep on skeles hits for 23k, even after taunt lvl 11 is applied to it, I can still see it hit for up to 20k on the same mobs, and it should decrease my damage by 21% but that's 17% or so, which is why I didn't think it was a big issue. But wow 40k dmg off 100k genesis lol

mmmmm, can't wait for taunt. my build will be: 1 smokescreen, 1 venom, 1 assassinate 29 bstep 10 fake max taunt (max venom and fake?) then i'm not sure what i'll do. i've been thinking about actually maxing venom after this, but then that means i won't be bossing a ton. but i will be trainign mondo fast, especially with the balance patch venom and basically no delay bstep, and i'll be rolling in the PoT. which is good cause i'm so unfunded it hurts... plus, the 40% damage reduction wont' affect venom's damage and will be super deadly maxed. TS, i say just get a point and see how you enjoy it. who knows, maybe the 11% drop bonus will help you find your book!

I have lvl 1 Taunt. When I get very lazy, I use it when I Web-train on them Imperial Guard Type S's. Web does the same damage, Taunt or not, so it's easy. xD (I gather them, Taunt then Web, fight whatever spawn of Overlord Type A's there are (I love these!), re-Web, repeat, etc. Not godly exp, but it's fun.) xD
