Go for Lampion or just keep Craven?

Ok so I am in a little predicament about which claw to end-game with. I am a low dex NL, capped at 75, and in total equips I have 160 dex flat no buffs. I was wondering what to do from here though. Originally I had planned to end-game with a craven, but then I got into thinking and changed to a Lampion, but now I am considering Craven again. Choosing a Craven for me would be beneficial in: 1) I would be able to buy pre-scrolled 2) I would be able to use the un-needed dex items, such as shoes, cape, and earrings, and swap them out for attack / luk. 3) I would not have to keep trying for a decent lampion if one does not work out. However: 1) I would not be able to have the potential for a higher attack than the Craven could get me. 2) The higher attack that the Lampion would get me, could cover any attack or luk that I could get extra from swapping out for the Craven. If I were to choose a Lampion, I would want it to be at least 75 attack, which for me, isn't all that easy to achieve, I would have to get extremely lucky with scrolls (Land at least 2-3 30%'s) and then finish off with a good amount of 60%'s landing. If you know me, you know I hate scrolling, because I suck at it. I have never scrolled any piece of my equipment, I always buy pre-scrolled. So this would be quite a challenge for me. If I were to choose a Craven, I would want it to be at least 70 attack, which would cost me about 700m (estimate) depending on if it were hammered or not. (most likely not). This would be a lot easier for me, and again it would allow me to swap out my dex shoes, earrings, and cape, for attack shoes, att or luk cape, and luk earrings. Which would help boost my damage range quite a bit than having 20 more dex. I forgot to mention that, for people who do not know the dex requirements for a Craven and Lampion, it is: Craven- 140 Lampion- 160 So it would allow me to save 20 dex if I were to choose going with the Craven instead. Well this turned out to be a lot more detailed than I wanted it to be, but it really helped me getting all of this out in text. If there are any Night Lords out there who want to give a rookie some pointers on which claw to use, that would be much appreciated. Or if you are not a Night Lord, but still want to give some opinion on the matter, that would be great as well. Thank you, Travis.

Seeing as you've always bought prescrolled, I'd just stick with the craven. A 70 att is a solid deal, and all those extra dex issues(20 is pretty stressful) will go away with a craven. Even if you fail ONCE, which is a big chance, considering you're 30%ing it, it will hurt a heck of a lot more than blowing up 10 cravens. I'd play it safe and sacrifice ~5-7 att for convenience (not to mention you have a pretty slim chance of actually getting it to 75 anyways). Not to say that a lampion isn't worth it, but IMO it wouldn't be worth the effort in your case. You'd have a bout 2-3 tries on a lampion to land 2 30%s, and still break even with your craven price. I'm a level 124 craven user, and it suits me just fine. Not to mention that if I ever quit, I can resell my claw (which I couldn't if I were a lampion user). PS: lampions are ugly

Eurek's quest skill = you can buy a pre-scrolled unless no one on your world has the skill to pre-scroll them for ya. The skill also means that if you decided to self-scroll, you can do it without equipping it, so you can sell it if it doesn't meet your standards. The quest only takes a couple mins to do, so I suggest doing it if you do it this way (unless you don't have a Red Whip, a bit of time Wraith/Drum Bunny farming will get ya one). xD

I believe that in the end, for an "end game weapon" the lampion for you would be the best choice. My reason?: because it has a higher attack output in the end, even without godly scrolling it. Since you said you have 160 dex un buffed (this is assuming you count maple warrior as a buff, some people dont) and if you can forge your own lampion you could make it 57 attack clean this is without the use of a black crystal (advanced black crystal could add or subtract anywhere from 0-5 attack) If you do forge the lampion you could have the possibility of making it 57+ attack (55 attack being the minimum while using basic diamond and a Claw Production Stimulator and 54 atk being avg with no diamonds at all) *Note this is clean* Pros of forging the lampion: 1. if you use an advanced diamond, intermediate luk and advanced topaz (incase you want to hp wash, this cuts it down a lil bit) you can make a claw 57 attack clean 2. you could 60% the entire lampion from 57 attack and make it 75 attack (this is using the 2 hammer slots also, so 9 slots) *Note this is if none fail* 3. If some scrolls do fail, depending on the amount you wouldnt have that much of a problem because you could also level the lampion and it could add attack im not sure about how much, but it levels 3 times iirc so that means at least +3 attack if it adds 1 attack per level 4. it saves money if you hunt for the PoT's instead of spending 700mil on a claw you could spend less and hunt monsters in ToT or just buy them for around 4-5m each and it would come out to around 225mil maximum worth of PoT's. Cons of forging the lampion: 1. You dont have a claw right away 2. It will take alot of time to hunt the PoT's 3. If you fail enough of the scrolls, then you wont have a good enough item, which means pre scrolled would be better if you cant afford to chance it. 4. Maybe its because im not thinking straight right now, but i dont really see many cons, considering you have 160 dex with equips. If you would like to ask me direct questions, contact me on basil IM by adding me, and i will address your questions with as much accuracy as i can.

Lampions are much cheaper now since PoTs only cost 4m per piece. That's about 200m to make a lampion without any scrolls taken into account. A 70 attack craven might cost you a bit more than 700m, which equates to about 3 trials and errors with lampions. It'll be more tedious but if the lampion ends up any higher than 75 attack, you know you've made the right choice (taking into account the dex requirement differences).

what happened to a sleve? I would go with that cause higher base, not much harder to make then a craven, and 10 dex saved. Also, you could buy pre-scrolled yay!

[/quote] In order to get the highest base att for you money, you have to use maker. Getting the dragon pieces (scales and spirits, which go for 2-5 mil) for the sleeve takes a lot more money and time than a craven would. You can maker almost 10 cravens for every sleeve.

You're forgetting that Lampions can be made above average with crystals and such. I made my lamp 59 attack clean, and it later gained 5 attack from leveling. Six 60% scrolls were all it needed to get 76 attack.
