Buying a new Desktop

Hey Guys Im looking for a new desktop computer, nothing too special but also one that will be a good all rounder. I will be using it for basic studying (word,pp,excel etc.) and gaming ofcourse. I was wondering what brands i should be looking at? I personally am a Mac person, but still having a Windows desktop is better and more convienient for me. Im not looking JUST for a gaming computer or brand (like alienware? i think they specialize in gaming computers?) but a good all round computer (around 2-4GB ram and 160+GB Harddrive in the price range of 700-1000 (AUS$). Any help would be very appriciated, im thinking Dell but would love your opinions! thankyou

Dell=Cheap, but it works Get an HP, mine has like 4(?) GB of ram, 320(more?) hardware. Got mine for around $1000(US$) My HP laptop is great, had it since '05, 2GB ram, 120GB hardware

If you can get someone to build it for you i would do that. If you want a comp for games more then work/study then go PC if you main purpose is Work/study go Mac, macs are expensive and you wont get a good gaming one for cheap. Even the basic 2gb ram go for 1000$, also you can get great deals, i got my laptop 5 months ago toshiba 8gb, 320gb hardrive ,W7,basic video graphics card for 600$ was on sale for 20% off and friend worked there got another 15% off.

As CookiesOrNo said, build your own computer, you can customize it your self, way cheaper, just your own labor has to be added

Get Alienware m11x customized to 8gb ram only about 1100$ its worth it , unless u dont' want an alienware get a simple HP computer are reliable
