What does Magic Shield do?

I dont really get it. My evan is level 60 now and I just use it because I like the way that the fairy dust goes around you 0.o It says it protects a good amount of damage. but when I use it and get hit by a monster (Magic Shield is maxed) the damage is still the same o.o OFF TOPIC : What is good for evan? Maple Shine Wand or Staff o.o

Magic Shield DOES reduce damage. It still says the same amount of damage, but less is taken out of your HP. As for the weapon, there isn't much difference between the two, I would just pick whichever is easier to get for you. For example, I got a Maple Wisdom Staff out of an Onyx Treasure Chest, so that is what I'm going to use once I hit level 64.

Doesn't achilles take off a % dmg? Magic shield just uses some mp and some hp when you get hurt.

Your damage LOOKS the same, but its not. Since its maxed, Magic Guard takes 80% of damage, If a monster did 100 damage to you, 80mp would be deducted, and you would take 20hp damage. Go to like WR or something and watch your HP and MP

[/quote] It is true, I only have level 5 Magic Guard and have to make my way to the Crimson Wood jump quest, I REALLY notice how much my HP goes down with and without Magic Shield when I take Storm Breaker touch damage. Normally I cannot fully recover my HP through a single Pizza Supreme, but with Magic Shield I am capable of doing.
