If this was asked before flame me. I am a little tired of my slinger and he is only level 4x. So If I make a semi-funded LUKless evan could it be a bossing class?

Of all the mages to bring to a boss, I think Evan would be best. They have great party buffs; Damage taken -30% (Lasts 20sec, Cool down of 40sec [literally up half the time]) Slow (which was argued as a reason to bring a mage to Pink Bean in a thread I read earlier this month) Elemental Damage taken -20% Damage dealt to target +5% 80% MP recovery cloud (similar to smokescreen's effect, except it heals MP) that last 30 seconds, cool down of only 1min (!) Auto-Life for 2 random party members with a cool down of 10min. On top of those buffs, they can also do decent damage with Illusion (130%x4) and magic enhancement skills (Magic Mastery [90%] +15MATT, Dragon's Fury +110% magic damage, Critical +150% damage [30% activation]). EDIT- A big question on my mind if whether or not SE or Thorns will work with Critical Magic. If so, that's even MORE damage they'd bring to the table.
hongyu1230 : For their dps? No, their dps is that of less than a arch mages but higher than a bishops. For their support? Magic shield might help ranged survive HT or Maybe PB.
Eh, evans have the best dps and dpm among the magicians. They have some very powerful skills like killed wings and illusion that combined with critical magic and magic booster can out damage any magician skill and deal a very decent amount of damage to any boss, regardless of his elemental status. Also, they have very useful support skills designed to protect the party against both physical and magical damage, among other things.

Hs = more decent exp from zak Evan = lowers general dmg done to you zak magic dmg = 3k max, or pretty much you should have that much by lvl 120 anyways

Bishops are the better mage if you want more EXP. But at best, you bring in 4+ people for the max buff, and ONE person gets good EXP (the person who does the most damage). Everyone else gets an extra 40% of their 20% share, AKA 28%.

With the damage calculations taken into account, F/P has the highest DPM followed by I/L. Evans are not a bossing class for their damage. Their buffs are the only thing that helps them in that aspect.
Lol, look on s*perry for a few of those caculations. Evan's damage potential with Blaze+EW5 or Illusion/Illusion+GL spam are still being disputed against archmages+summons. People were given the impression about evans greatly outdamaging ams during their initial release. However, there pretty close when it comes to late game. AMs=Evans more or less when it comes to DMP. AMs>Evans when it comes to training. Evans>AMs when it comes to buffs being wanted for boss runs. Despite evans having the better buffs, there still replaceable along with bishops when it comes to pink been.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to bring one, but expect to be brought along to bosses in about the same ratio as the A/M's, if just a little more. Bishops are usually a necessity, but Evans are not so much. DPM/DPS still goes to Corsair, NL, and Hero. Evans would be expected to be mostly a support class at bosses and not much else. Kind of like DK's, who attack, but are mostly there for the HB.

I haven't seen these calculations but, ASSUMING that an AM does out-damage an Evan at bosses , Evans are still more useful. As you said, no one takes Evans to bosses for damage; same for AMs and Bishops. :P When all is said and done (if the calculations are true), Evans have great buffs and decent damage. AMs have slightly better damage, but no awesome buffs to accompany it.

As I said HT and PB are different, what's the awsome buff in which you are talking about? taking dmg off zak wouldn't help any ranged classes and they do the most dps/dpm out of all classes.
