so we got into an argument on how warriors use swords. his argument was that you just hold the sword with you hand and use it with your arm. my argument was that you use it with your hand. so what do you think?

Think of it as the sword being an extention of your arm

I agree with the above; it just makes more sense I mean you don't really flick a sword around with your wrist, it has to be one whole motion with your arm.

I think an arm includes a hand so it's like both.

both.... wtih Katana, as you strike your supposed to make a wringing motion with your hands. But while were on that subject, the sword is more an extension of the body as a whole. most of the power comes from you legs.

Despite what you may think, swords are incredibly heavy and 'swinging' them with your wrist will cause you to some serious injuries.

by logic and the size of the swords it should be the arm/elbow/shoulder doing the majority of the work for both 1h and 2h weapons, if it was the wrist it would be more of a fencing style. Wrist strength is also important for all styles when locked corps corps.

Actually, I'm pretty sure your chest, back, and shoulders do most of the work, I wouldn't quite call your shoulders your arm.
