Equips for Lvl 50 I/L Mage

Hello, for the sake of making things easier I'm asking 2 questions in one thread. 1. What are good (scrolled...) equips I can get with about 10k nx and about 30mil(looking for mainly robe and earring) for a lvl 50 i/l mage.? If possible can you include obscenes? e.g. rings, belts, etc. Also they do not have to be just for magician, common will work with me. 2.Am I weak, or are magicians weak in general? I have zhelm(its the only good equip I have) and I still only hit 1.1-1.5k with meditation and cold beam maxed, i know this is most likely because my luk is high (I mean really high), but I'm capping it right now(its at 68 with zhelm). All my points from now on will go to int.

1. Earrings, then save up for an elemental wand 3 (or get it now). With the leftover money, just save it for later. 2. No, you're not weak. Though, you should get lightning. Cold beam build is really slow.

I think I just see the sins hitting way faster but in slightly lower numbers then me, and I'm working on maxing lightning right now.

Ah, sins naturally excel at 1v1 targets though - don't compare yourself to them! Instead, look at our myriad of mobbing skills. We're quite the trainers ;). I don't know - HateSpirit knows what he's talking about, but I personally would save up for an Ele Wand 3. Earrings are indeed an important equip, but if I was in your position, I'd grab the Ele Wand and not get expensive earrings until later on. Look for 3/6 or 4/8 earrings though if you need to. They're reasonably cheap and will last a while.

So I took hatespirit's advice and got a decent earring I could afford, and now I'm hitting a little harder( i believe they were black emerald earrings 4/8). I still have 7 levels to go until lightning is maxed, but I'm guessing by then I can get a better scrolled weapon, if not, I'll just stick with my scrolled nocturnal staff.

If you're lucky in the Evan event, you may get a shine wand or wisdom staff! :D Definately save up for your e-wand 3, because it's going to help a LOT in the 70's (places like Birks for example).

[/quote] Yay, congratulations! May I ask how much they were though? About the weapon, you should stick with it until you could get a clean weapon (maker or bought for a few hundred thousand) with better stats or if you get lucky and get a wisdom staff/shine wand from Cassandra (like AngelxHoly stated). He also speaks the truth about elemental wand 3. They help a lot during those times, and still do a great deal of extra damage during the rest of your maple career. Also, if you do perhaps get a maple shine wand/wisdom staff from the event, you can also sell it for quite a bit of mesos once you start using your elemental wand 3.

Well, the good thing is, with the NX and mesos you still have (80m), you'll still have enough for the elemental wand 3. I'd suggest you to get a little bit over that amount before getting one though, since you'll need spare mesos for certain things like potions.

Do you mean for during 3rd job? Yes, you COULD get one, but in my opinion, it'd be a waste of money. Ele-wand 3 is a 25% boost to ice-elemental attacks, which is convinient, since your main attacking skill in 3rd job is ice strike (and your best single target skill is cold beam, which is also ice based). Even a below average e-wand 3 could beat a decently-fantasticly scrolled evil wings. Maybe ask Ravkin for some calculations on what it would take to be a clean ele-wand 3.

They're just really expensive, due to the fact that overall INT scrolls are very costy. Overalls are not a main priority for gear. It's something like: Elemental wand 3 > Earrings > zakum helmet > pendant/belt > overall > gloves >ring, shield, shoes. I'm not 100% right on the order, but it's something like that.

I guess I can get one of the default robes until I can scroll one myself. I might end up using this character for funding because due to the fact he's not lukless I'll be pretty weak in later stages of the game. Also I might make a new I/L later when I'm funded, and make him lukless.

Don't waste a lot of time and effort on equipment at your level. I/Ls level so quickly you'll be outgrowing your equipment soon after you get it. Spend your mesos on a good pair of earrings. I happen to like Gold Emerald Earrings for my mages. Also buy a good cape. Here I happen to like a Purple Gaia. The good thing is that, like your Zhelm, you will never outgrow these two pieces of equipment. If you don't have one, buy a Deputy Star and leave it clean. You can use it until you can equip an HTP and then sell it for what you paid for it. And BTW... you are right to cap your LUK... don't add any more points to LUK and don't add any more LUK equipmenet. You're fine where you are.
