Explorer Medal Questions!

I have almost every explorer medal in maple. Just missing Minar Forest! So I have two questions for everyone. 1) How can you get the last spot for Minar Forest (Cave of Life or something like that) without killing Horntail? And 2) Can you drop your explorer medals and still get Maple Explorer?
