Just caught a Ho-oh with first pokeball attempt

So i was in a middle of a conversation with a friend and was planning to go shower soon but i saw my Gameboy with my classic Pokemon Gold version attached to it since i was trying to capture the Ho-Oh in the afternoon and had many failed attempts and decided to play. I turned on the gameboy used my dragonair and lowered it to 13 hp and was paralyzed. I then threw out my first Ultra ball and spammed the A button(dont know if this really works but i have a habit of doing it) and the pokeball turned dark and made a pinging noise. at first i couldnt believe it but then it appeared in my pokedex and i screamed "YES I DID IT ON MY FIRST TRY!" and screamed it at the person who i was chatting with at aim. Long story short... i captured a Ho-oH with my first Ultra-Ball

GJ, I paralyzed Lugia with 1 hp and he still refused to get caught. Got p!ssed off an used an ultra ball ._. Soul Silver btw.

I got him down to ~1hp and paralyzed every time but I couldn't catch him for about an hour. @above: It's possible to catch any Pokemon at full health with a normal status with a Pokeball, the chances are just really, really low (I remember reading .25% being the lowest possible).

BTW I caught dialga on my 2nd attempt with a pokeball. It had yellow HP. And about the HP, conditions and type of pokeballs, it just increases the chances. You could have caught it even if it had full HP and no condition, using a pokeball, it's just luck.

[/quote] So if you had 100 pokeballs, you could theoretically catch him in 4 tries.
