Did i do the right thing?

So my friend in maple told me that he got hacked and stuff. So then he said that he's gonna start hacking peoples accounts to regain his stuff back. I told him not to and gave him some items so that he can get back on his feet. He said thanks and logged off. The next day, he messaged me with a different account saying that that was the account he hacked and got all these godly equips and 26 mil. He told me to hold on to it and give it back to him later when he tells me to. I felt bad for the person that got hacked so i kept the items, blocked him and all his other characters. Did i do the right thing? Do you think he got what he deserved? Btw, he hacked even more people now. I think he's hacked about a good 10 people. How do i know? He messaged me with all those characters.
