Can someone explain Prepaid phones to me

Well I activated a Verizon Prepaid phone and it says "Expires March 21" I was wondering if i can still add minutes after it expires

you have to go and buy a card from a gas station or similar to stock up on minutes every time you run out. (i think?) it's so you don't get caught up in contracts and you only get what you can pay for. (i think?)

when the minutes expire you purchase new ones and re-activate it(i think?)

well, since today is march 29th, pretty sure that means it will expire in a year. and i'm sure you're going to use up those minutes faster than a year will go by, so you don't really have anything to worry about.

I also have a question. How do texts work on a prepaid phone or are text free on them as long as you have minutes?

For some, texts take up 15 seconds. For others, 30 seconds. And I've even seen a company that takes away 1 minute of talk time per text.

there are different type of cards, in Aus you can get $30,$50 and $80 cards but they only last 1 month, you get cheap calls and stuff, but you can get a recharge cards with how much money you want on your phone like $15 or something but the charges cost alot, eg 55 cents to text someone and this lasts for 1 year.
