I am thinking of making and using either a twitter account or a facebook account. Most of my friends use both, and i plan to talk via phone as well. So which one?

Facebook, twitter's a complete pointless waste of time. Also, facebook's a bit more substantial. This is a very biased comment, but its somewhat true.

I'm thinking of buying a phone soon. Would both the iphone and itouch support both programs?

You can't compare those two. Twitter is just one feature while Facebook is Twitter buy with many more features.
