gaggerI was considering making a HS Mule, which would be my first cleric. I have come up with an alternate skill build to the standard one used my Arch Mages and Bishops alike. How do you think this would work out (in no particular order)? MAX Magic Claw MAX MP Recovery MAX MP Increase 14 Magic Guard (60% MP used as MP) 6 Magic Armor 1 Energy Bolt The reasoning: Due to the healing ability of Clerics/Priests/Bishops, it would not be necessary to devote 80% of damage taken to MP, notably during bossing. After doing some calculations based on my lvl 75 F/P Mage with ~1100 base HP, a level 7x-8x Priest with decent HP equips (+200~+300) would be able to take a hit of around 3500 which is the max for most monsters and bosses in the game.

The question is: why? What benefit will keeping that 20% of your damage make? If you're making an HS mule, why do you care how much damage you take? You'll be on a rope or somewhere safe anyway.

gaggerIt's just a character that I don't feel like spending money on. In addition, I may continue this character as a bossing character mainly because my F/P will basically never boss, so this extra 20% would save even more pots than current clerics do. It would make the character cheaper, notably in bossing, than current Priests/Bishops

you need to have 1 energy bolt before you can put points into magic claw, and you'd also miss out on a fair amount of mp in maxing mp increase late. The less mp you have, the less mp mana bulls and ginger ales recover, thus the bigger the drain on your money training will be when you get genesis. Your survivability also decreases. Level 14 magic guard will also severely hamper your ability to train and boss. I once had a fp mage with only lv18 magic guard and even though mg was almost maxed it still affected the way I trained a great deal and in the end I deleted and remade that character. You're better off sticking to the usual build, even if it is just a hs mule. :X Also 'fp basically never boss'? I just soloed pap today and went on a scar run yesterday o-o

gaggerThanks Emenia, as for the F/P basically never boss, I was referring more comparatively where Bishop>F/P in the bossing hierarchy

Just max Magic Guard. As a Cleric, you barely ever use any potions due to Heal and MP Eater. Those will save you more potions than if you were to leave Magic Guard unmaxed. Plus, you can't even use Magic Armor as a Cleric because you have Bless. The two don't stack with each other.
