Convincing my Mom to Get a Tortoise?

So I really want a Russian Tortoise, but my mom isn't sure. I did a lot of research, and my friend who's an animal expert says I would be great at keeping one. Also, my other friend happens to breed Russian tortoises, and his eggs should be hatching any day now. I also know where I can keep them, so it won't take up room. Can you guys help?

Actually, I just read a list of pros and cons. Since you said you did your research you should be fine. Hmm, The question is, What part of the tortoise will convince your mother to allow you to keep one?

Ehh... I don't know much about tortoises, but I do know that most reptiles need really high maintenance... and if you don't take care of them right, they get sick and die. The equipment for the habitat can also be really expensive. I'd stick with mammals.
