| Any help for a total nub? I've been looking at newegg and i'm totally lost... All I've done is find a case... (it looks pretty nice ;D) My laptop is decent but isn't that nice. So help with choosing parts for a average computer? Like can run Photoshop without lagging... that badly Can play games ( Nothing extreme... Like Combat Arms, Soldier Front, etc AT MOST) Multitask, and is decently fast i guess. Budget: 500$ish? |

| Although I highly don't recommend you build a cp, I recommend you get an amd athlon llx2 for budget purposes, u will also need an am3 mb and make sure the ram has the same # of pins as the mb requires, most lower end mb have integrated gpus such as the Ati hd4200 which is fine for games like combat arms, also you will need a DVD drive, power supply, and an Os , I recommend an oem since it's cheaper and more Eco-friendly than a retail box |

|
ultiope : No I'm not playing Crysis. Yes, I AM, but just need help on WHAT parts to get ^.^.
If you can raise your budget by a bit, I mean $500 is not going to build a *decent* computer. If you want you might as well buy a new computer. |
for a casual user $500 is enough. you don't need to buy top notch parts to have a computer that runs fine. it won't be spectacular, and there would definitely be a lot of room for improvement, but that's not an issue @shiro, he's in canada D: newegg.ca |

|
LiveGreen : @shiro, he's in canada D: newegg.ca
I know, TS just mentions it after I already started linking up the list. @ultiope: The 5670 is a more powerful card compared to the GT240 (and costs significantly more)... though the GT 240 is already more than enough to run stuff like Combat Arms on good settings. Instead of the GT240, you can use the 4670 instead :P EDIT @DawnJunior: I'm not really sure about that, considering that the reviews I've read on the GT240 kinda differs on the heating problems. Some of the makers are pretty good, some aren't. I heard the GT240 from Axle is pretty good, but I didn't find it on Newegg. |
