I don't understand how to EV train, I researched on youtube, serebii, and bulbapedia but they're not giving any clear information. Zubats give Speed EVs, so I have to kill 255 of them to get 255 Evs. Does this mean I don't have to fight them anymore? I just need to level to get the EVs applied to my pokemon's individual values?

EV training is useless. First you have to make sure you match the perfect nature. Then you have to burn a ton of berries to drop the EVs that you don't want. EV train and for what? Stats that someone using PokeSav could generate in minutes?
Provided you want the highest speed possible, you will kill 255 Zubats. However, you need 4 EVs in order to gain a point in that particular stat, so you'll want to stop at 252 Zubats, because there are 3 leftover EVs. Now, you can only obtain 510 EV points overall, meaning you'll be able to use 508 of them, with the last two being negligible. Same goes for any other stat. IVs are random amounts of points added to a pokemon's base stats. @above, some of us like having legit pokemon. Plus, it doesn't even take that long to EV train.

Vitamins speed up the process a lot. A Macho Brace or Power Items can help as well, but they degrade speed temporarily. Really useful, as when you remove the item, the speed returns to normal.

Correction, you don't have to use ANY. If you fail at EV training, that's cool. Don't try to talk bad about it because you don't know how to do it.
hmm i guess i can give u the gist of it every pkmn, when caught/hatched, starts of with base IV (you can't change) and 512 EV "slots" every 4 EV equates to +1 on that stat, rounding down (so 4 EV gives same stat boost as 7 EV). Every stat can have a max of 255 EV (taking round down into consideration, only 252 EV is useful) the point of EV training is to max your primary stats for high dmg/speed/tanking. So when you kill a wild pkmn, it gives u EV, so in your case, killing 1 zubat gives u 1 speed EV, killing 255 gives u ur 255 EV, and you can't have ANY MORE SPEED EVs. However, you can still get EVs on your other stats, but when u hit 512, you can't get anymore, and your EV is maxed, hence done EV training. an Example: i just EV trained my weavile today. It's primary stats are speed and att, making it a physical sweeper. so i train to get 252 att EV (from snover/machoke) and 252 speed EV (sneasel/medicam/meditite/zubat) and put rest into HP that way, my weavile's att and speed are very high, while leaving other relatively useless stats ( such as sp. att) very low. Other things to take into consideration: pkmn's nature, items to speed up EV training (power items) hope this helped. I know it's kinda confusing =

Like any competitive game, people pay to win. You have casual players and you have competitive players. Hell, you might even have one person that fits both.
