I was wondering what are they using, wand, staff or both ?

Wand and staff. The dragon launches the attacks, and the weapon determines the attack input (along with clothes, skills, etc...)

The only items i suggest to merch are the fire/poison elemental weapons. Although, those are probably too late at the moment. 60% scrolls are pointless due to the new hack unless you plan to merchant the 50% scrolls.
