Nick the main character is from Minnosota. But why does this matter in the beginning of the book?

My Characters: intense - 92 Scania Hermit

Shows that he's very difference from the people from East Egg, West Egg, etc. He was raised in a different community and taught different morals than the rich citizens of where he lives now so ideally they have different ideals. Nonetheless, he tries to not judge or unjustly accuse anyone, including Gatsby.
