I need your ideas on a potentially new game/website

A long, long time ago in internet years (Like 05) I was on a team that created a petsite called Teripets. Don't ask about the name, I don't know. Knowing the creator and the assistant creator, we constantly had ideas on how to improve the game. One of those ideas was called the "Underground". Here's how it worked; The underground was a mafia/crime game. You were set in a new world of crime and robbery everywhere. There were stores, banks, a jail, a hospital, headquarters for gangs. Basically everything you would find in a crime type gang. The overall idea was simple; you gained experience for successful heists/robberies/whatever which helped you rob bigger and better things. If you were unsuccessful, you lost HP, sometimes XP, and were put in jail. Jail worked on a realtime counter, in which you couldn't do anything while in jail. so, for example, if you failed at robbing someone, you would get put in jail for two minutes. People could create Factions, which were essentially a guild-type ordeal, in which you could compete with other factions to see who really was the mob boss of the Underground. You could buy weapons and items with money earned in the Underground which would help you in succeeding. The whole idea was a big success, but planning fell through and it kinda died. If you want, you can still play the remnants of the game on the website but you need to create an account. Just click Underground on the left sidebar after you've made an account with the site. I've recently gotten together with the creator of the site and we're planning on making an entire website dedicated to the Underground. It would still be the same idea, just on a more grand scale and without the "kiddie" looks. You would create a user and would be instantly ejected into the world. The overall goal would be to create a large game, played through a website, while making it more fun than Mafia Wars, and less repetitive, because anyone who's played Mafia Wars knows that after a few days everything becomes repetitive and a waiting game. Anyways, would you play a game like that? Or at least try it out? If made, we would need testers, and I see no reason why you guys wouldn't be good testers.

Sounds interesting enough, and since it's browser based and all it wouldn't be horribly time consuming or inconvenient.

Either way, I'm waiting for Chris to get online so we can start planning. I'm not even sure if he's the interested, but if he is, I have to go to the drawing board :P

The game won't come out for a while, even if it does. I'll let you guys know what's going on. I just wish I could get more insight from other Basilers.

As long as it would bring something new to the table I'd play, browser based games are just either a big success or a giant flop.

Only if it doesn't fail like runescape and has amazing gameplay/plot. then yes i might try it out. i doubt my parents would let me though...

It also wouldn't be an applet type game, it would be more as individual pages, like how neopets works.

[/quote] uhhh... i wasted about 2 years of my life on neopets back in the day. i'm not gonna bash on your dreams now. just sayin' neopets was time wasted i can never get back try thinking up something a bit better. if it's gonna be free why not make it a downloadable MMORPG? you can even have your own version of NX~! sorry. i suck at ideas... :/

It has nothing to do with pets. I was just saying that the site would be point and click interface among a bunch of webpages, how neopets operates. If we did make it a downloadable game, it would take a crapload of time to make it hack proof. If anything we could make it an applet game, but people would probably still hack it. Right now it's in the very, very early stages. No code has actually been written yet, other than what's on Teripets.
