| Hello. I apologize,... I am a noob with noob questions... I just created a new Bowman and I am really not sure how to build him. I have read many different guides...maybe too many...and I am getting more and more confused. I am looking for some help. How did you build yours? why? and why not another way? (I understand, it is kind of personal preference, just looking for guidance) From what I have read, STR is needed just for equiping bows,...but is not really beneficial to a bowman in any other way...is this true? I am more concerned about End game damage and strength of character. Assuming all equips are equal (Impossible I know, but hypothetically), which amount of STR would create the strongest character? I am not concerned about Training difficulties (I have been advised by many) or about funding. I just want to know how to make the strongest bowman minus any equipment advantage. Thank you very much in advance for your assistance and advice. |

| I would cap at around 70 str. That way, you dont have to worry about not being able to equips stuff untill like lvl 90. It depends on your funding. If you have like 1bill, then like 25 base str. If you are unfunded, then 70 base str |

| Str also contributes to damage, but Dex and Atk do a lot more. As long as your total Str does not exceed the Str needed to equip your Bow, you're fine. However, you don't want to spend too much Meso on all Str equips. Sometimes it will be cheaper to buy Str equips while it may be cheaper to buy Dex equips other times. You'll probably want to stay in the 60-80 base Str region. |

| Thank you everyone for the advice. I think I will try to go STR-Less for now and see how my character feels. I have some equipment that I can share from my other character so hopefully that will be sufficient for now. Bowmaster her I come...Wish me luck ;) |

| STR-less is indeed quite a good bet if you are a beginning bowman. Though I'd really recommend pumping STR from 50 and on, to get the lv80 bow on time. My observations tell me that a nicely funded ranger with a lv80 bow already outdamage a STR-less bowman with a kandiva. |

| i started up unfunded, and i found it easier to start regSTR. maple weapons are hard to come (and expensive to boot), unless you start in may-june when you can hunt for them and there's an insane surplus (before everyone starts hoarding them to mass scroll). i did it well as a reg STR until lvl 60, when i capped my STR to 60 base. so far, after so many lvls, meso and time, i still have my ol' 60 base STR |

| Strless isn't good from 1-35 (hell levels because you have to stick with the first bow) and from 70+ because you can't use the good bows which have a much higher attack than a kavandia, take this from a former strless ranger. If you stay strless prepare to get outdmged by regular bowman a lot. 51+ str is the way to go capping at whatever level you think you can use a reverse/nisrock/other high level weapon |

|
holyflare101 : what is considered low str?
You need strength equipment in order to equip your weapon since your base strength isn't sufficient enough to use your current weapon. |
