sup everyone i need some help in chem. i have a test in the afternoon and i know nothing about it. anyways i have a few questions xP, so we have these questions and the question is: which molecule is most polar and the choices are h2o, h2s, h2Se, h2Te. how can i do this question? does it invovle inozation? xP further on, this might sound silly but is it possible to have a polar bond with a nonpolar covalent bond or a nonpolar with a polar covalent bond? thank you for your help:D enjoy ur day

h20, you know because its general knowledge. Charge seperation occurs in the h2o, which is so strong that it can seperate the other compounds. I don't understand your 2ndquestion

H+ has a slight positive charge and O- has a slight negative charge (you gotta remember, they are ions after combining). So they exhibit a slight attraction to other ions, in different compounds. This phenomenon is most in water, so thats why. It's also the reason that water is a universal solvent

Hey this is the same stuff Im doing :D Yr 11 IB SL? Anyway, the degree of polarity depends on the difference in electronegativities between the atoms so since hydrogen is the least electronegative and oxygen is one of the most electronegative (well the most electronegative on there) the answer is H2O Hope I helped :P EDIT: No it does not involve "inozation" (lolol) and you cant have polar nonpolar covalent bonds (xD) its either one or the other good luck getting 90 if you dont even knwo this stuff haha xD
