Another Flamethrower V.S Gaviota

Yup. I know there's been multiple threads on the webzz and basil but my question is more specific. I'm 100% SURE I will max Gaviota if I will never use flamethrower past 3rd job. I would max flamethrower but the thing is, the capsules are so expensive. What do people usually do when their ship breaks down? Do they use flame thrower or do they use rapid/burst? If you HAVE to use flamethrower, I guess I'll max flame. However, if the use of flamethrower is only in 3rd job training spots, I'll probably get gaviota because I plan on Newting forever. I have like 15 points saved and have no idea which to max >_> Making me so mad! Thanks So basically: Gaviota "Less expensive build" Can be used in between mobs/monster for extra damage Nice at Newties for extra damage Might aggro random monsters Not a "huge" damage in higher level Flamethrower More expensive(You have to buy capsules which cost around 7mil each) Maybe/can be used when ship breaks down? Useless in 3rd job.(for me) Even with the list, I can't decide. I probably left out some things but yeah. Would flamethrower be even more useful with the KMS updates?

7mil isn't that expensive. (Heck, I have to spend like 6mil just to repot) I prefer Flamethrower. It gives you more training options, and fighting options in general when you're doing misc stuff like quests. Gaviota is just a skill I find awkward to use, can't control, and barely has a damage increase from 15-30. Flamethrower can also be used for finishing off mobs quickly in 4th job.

At least get FT to hit 6 mobs, that way you can use it in PYPQ, clear low leveled mobs and can be a higher leveled mob finisher. I advise to just leave Gaviota at lvl 15. I've tried incorporating it in my newt training, but I'd rather summon an octo than summon a gull. Edit: About getting a blaze capsule, I can't say whether or not to get one since my build was for newts/trainee monks.

Personally, if I could redo my skill build without buying ap resets, I would have max is, 26 flame, and 15 gav.

Really both skills arnt used much in 4th job. But i went flame just cause its a decent mobber, and useful in places like pypq

Gaviota is useless. Completely useless. Can't argue that. FT (mixed with IS) allows for training spots that aren't meant for ranged classes. You can join in on himes (ill-advised) and goby. Things like that. Gaviota is quite obsolete, I only use it if I'm bored. Get 6 hit FT and IS and get gaviota high enough to get air strike.

You don't need flamethrower~ Rapid fire is about the same as flamethrower even if there's 6 targets Flamethrower with maxed element boost = (160%x2) x 6 targets = 1920% with a 1.5 sec delay Rapid fire 170% x 8shot per sec = 1360% with no delay So by math, rapid fire would have done 1360%x2.5 = 3400% by the time you cast one flamethrower which is 1920% ( the 2.5 is from the casting time + the delay of flamethrower, 1 sec to cast, another 1.5sec delay between next shot) But of course realistically you'll throw in ice splitter between each flamethrower ice splitter with maxed element boost = (130%x2) x 6 targets = 1560% FT+IS = 1920 +1560 = 3480%, and I generously used lv30 IS instead of lv26 IS which everyone does, because you either max FT or leave IS at 26 So there's only a 80% of your base attack gap between rapid fire and FT&IS combo Again, FT&IS require capsule to work properly. And rapid fire burns bullet. But an extra bullet for RF is just 1 slot VS 2 slots for FT&IS I understand no one maxes RF until 14x+ But at the end, why do we need flamethrower when we have a similar skill that's way more powerful on 1v1, and even about the same% on 6 targets? Maxing gavoita is just opinional... I think the ultimate question for this thread should be: Should we max or lv26 flamethrower which is rarely used? Or should we max ice splitter which we'll use forever and by maxing, means boosting it sightly by 8%? Or should we leave FT at 11, IS at 30 & gavoita at 30?
