then why do you say OMG? You associate yourselves with God. Most of the things we do today are associated with Christianity (i.e. CHRISTMAS, EASTER).

Just cause someone doesn't believe in god doesn't give you the right to question them, I celebrate christmas as a time to spend with family. Regardless of the reason... I could care less of its origin....Get over yourself...

Man I hate the prejudice against Atheist.Not everyone has to be a Christian just to celebrate Christmas to me it's more of a family holiday. Free right of speech,religion,& press in the ol USA. O_o But cause of this I'm beginning to dislike most Christian's I've met some pretty nice ones too who don't mind I'm an Atheist. D: Only ones who make say you'll burn in hell.So what?I don't mind if it's true or not. And KillForJoy's right it was caught on.

It's just a saying, you don't necessarily associate with God by saying it. Same with holidays, nowadays it's more of a family occasion than a religious one. Nice try though.

Most of the things we do today are associated with christianity, like what? I don't celebrate the birth of jesus on christmas or celebrate his death on easter. It's still celebrated this much because of the corporate situation. You have any idea how much christmas stimulates our economy? OMG has nothing to do with being a believer or not, it's just an expression. It means pretty much the same as holy sh** and in most situations it could easily be replaced by "facepalm" or "wtf".

unfortunatly Christmas seems to have lost much of it's meaning for some people. I celebrate it as a family event and a time to give, and receive gifts. That being said I hate Christmas anyway and don't celebrate easter. It's not my fault people give me eggs... -from an atheist-

I celebrate Christmas (and to a lesser extent, Easter) as an event for giving and sharing, and spending time with loved ones. Where I live (Australia), everyone I know celebrates Christmas whether they're Christian or not - & most of them aren't - and the holiday is marketed as simply a time for giving & sharing, so there's never any real issue with it. Regardless of the origins of the holiday, it does teach good morals and kindness. It's not the belief that really matters, but the lessons we can take away from the beliefs to apply in our everyday lives. =]

[/quote] Why do you say "Bless you" after someone sneezes? Is it because you think they're dying or possessed by spirits? I doubt it. Same concept. It caught on. As for holidays, most are commercial or quality time with family.
