sins have taken over thieves

So today i was waiting for a boat, and i see this nub (im guessing from his equips/typing) and he asks if anyone is a thief or dit. Are assassins really taking over the thief class THAT much that all thieves are sins?

Usually I play on my character in khaini. I never see sins anymore o.o
