Tomorrow I am going to have a Debate war against another group in our class. Our mission is to explain why the U.S. shouldn't drop the Atomic bomb on Japan during the World War II. For people who is smart and know so much about atomic bomb in that time, please give me some info about that topic since I dont want to lose to the other teams. I need some useful iinformation. Thank you

The cons of dropping the bomb were that Hiroshima and Nagasaki are two major cities in Japan, filled with innocent people, dropping the bomb on them was just a tactic to scare the people to make them give up, when really it was the Japanese forces the U.S. was after, so dropping the bombs on these cities had killed thousands of innocent people. Yes, the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were detrimental in that they killed an estimated 140,000 (Hiroshima) and 70,000 (Nagasaki); the resulting radiation has left its awful imprints even to this day.

Uh, well it's hard because I support the bombing o.o But a good point to make was that it's inhumane. Not like the japanese didn't do any inhumane things either... @above: "Taste of their own medicine" You know whats funny though. One Japanese guy survived hiroshima. Then he went to nagasaki and he survived there too. xD he died pretty recently.

Wasnt the Bomb dropped because the US wanted to show power even thou 4 days before they dropped it Japan surendered alrdy?

[/quote] As compared to the estimated million that would've been killed had the war continued, not to mention that the average Japanese citized would never surrender and would rather hara-kiri.

[/quote] Same as how you can support the country that killed millions of innocent people that had nothing to do with the Sino-Japanese War. Also if we didn't launch a nuke we'd have to send american soldiers there. Resulting in thousands of innocent people dying anyway. "The Soldier is always innocent"

Keep in mind even Nazi's felt bad for the chinese during the Sino-Japanese War. Even though Hitler agreed to be Japan's ally, Hitler continued trading WEAPON's to the nationalist to fight the Japanese. Japanese weren't good people back then. I don't know about now.(I heard they were racist where if you were non-jap and you got married + had a baby there you/your baby might not even get citizenship. Not sure though) I've seen those movies where Japanese soldiers using a bayonet and cutting a pregnants women stomach and stabbing the fetus bringing it up filled with blood. The fetus is humanlike but not yet a baby gooey and bloody while the pregnant lady screams. You see the umbilical cord and everything. Or How about Japanese Soliders throwing a 5 year old chinese girl out the 2 story house window. Yeah, they weren't nice. They just got retribution for what they did in China.

[/quote] No. Japan had been considering surrender, but they had that natural tendency to hate it. They only announced a complete surrender after the bombs were dropped.

[/quote] Not even that, The japanese took the women and just rhaped them to death. Watch NanKing Nanking City of life and death on youtube. Keep in mind that is a "watered down" version of what happened.
