This is unconfirmed, but from what i have heard about this hack is that it uses remote access to control your computer and be you to take your stuff ...or soemthing like that. So i was thinking, if it uses remote access, then why not disable remote access to your computer? Would this work? Or am i just stupid for my maverick thinking? You can disable remote access by going to your control panel, system, and look for remote settings, then bam, turn them off. I dont know how safe you'll be after this, but anything is better than nothing, right? Control Panel->System->Remote settings-> uncheck box->apply

No, its got nothing to do with the remote access feature (like remote desktop). The name "remote hack" is misleading, it should be named "cc hack" instead.
When you cc, go to the cash shop, or change maps, i read that you send traces of your ip address to the hacker. They then use this to connect to you. This isnt true? Because thats exactly the understanding i got from checking into it. If thats not how it works, then please explain it to me. And how the people who afk in the free market and get hacked who cant have possibly have cc'd @above, someone could just wait for you to cc, they dont have to ask you, i cc all the time without anyone asking me to

When you change channels, you connect to a different IP/Port than you were connected to the moment before. During that time that you're switching connections, they switch out and take over your character and connect to the channel server. You will then disconnect and they have full control over your character. They don't take control over your computer. They take control over your character itself as it's switching connections.

I'm not entirely sure how this works, since I don't play GlobalMS, but as far as what I've been told on other forums, it's a client-hack, pretty much. In your client, there's some hexes where you can switch out characters for other characters while another is connecting to something. This was used before by MapleStory Game Masters. I, personally, don't have evidence of this, but if I do find the thread on that other forum (which I can't say the name of on Basil), I will post the text here of what that person said.

when you cc you send a message to the server about the character name wanting to cc, The hacker sends a lot of those messages with your ign to cc before you do, then they can in a way beat you, and get on your account before you can. Not sure if that was a good explaination...

Hm... this seems interesting. Although I just quickly read through the help windows of both of the options for the Remote settings, I still disabled them since I'll never use them. I'm not sure if this is linked to the Remote Hacking either though. Won't hurt to try to stay safe though.

Another quote from someone on that forum which remains nameless :
ctblack : How this hack is able to work is the CC message don't include any unique private ID only the server and the real users knows, it just uses the IGN to register on the new channel when CCing. So the hacker can spam the new channel with the victim's IGN using the fake CC message ahead of time and beat the victim to it. Easy patch is to include a special ID (or to include the IP), generated randomly upon the CC command and send back to the both the client and the new channel server which will be used in the CC authentication.
In other words, it's a form of packet-editing.

Here's what another person said (which is about the GM being able to take control over a player's character):
Eosian : Technically it's a "switch" hack, where you swap one character's connection for another, named after the old DIKU command that let an admin do the same at will. This lesson in gaming history brought to you by: Old Age.
Guys guys guys, its NEXON we are talking about. Dont worry, dont report a player just because he is grinding in the channel you are in and asks you for CC'ing, I really think this one is fake, not beliveable, but better to be on the good side, so if someone would, then report to NEXON, they will fix it, and I heard about a patch, and very fast one today or something, it might be for the same.

Lol, sorry is there anything wrong with you? You make me laugh? Controll your computer? I doubt those who play MS even dare to call their mom.
