Trolls, goblins, elves, dwarfs, gnomes, gremlins, ogres, and smurfs? They look like the same thing to me, could some one please explain the differences? Also correct me if I didn't name them all.

Elves are mystical-like creatures. Gnomes/Dwarfs are short human-like creatures. Trolls/Goblins/Ogres --> Shrek. :D That's really all I know from movies/games.

[/quote] Trolls live in mountainous Terrain and are usually greedy but this varies from Troll to Troll; They can't stand sunlight Dwarfs are very crafty and amazing with there hands also prefering mountainous terrain Goblins can live anywhere any other race can live there not to strong but they've come to make that more of an advantage than anything else Elves are frail graceful beings they are famous for there amazing beauty Gremlins are amazing with technology but they can only take stuff apart they have trouble putting it back Gnomes like dwarves are amazing with there hands but often prefer more magical means to there craft Ogres are usually Hermits prefering to stay alone Smurfs are Rare offspring of the Fae they are famous for there Females amazing life span unfortunately there can be only one female in each tribe

Ogre (Ugly giant, European in origin) Troll (Larger, stronger, uglier, comes from Nordic mythology. Generally an extremely large creature. Also comes in smaller varieties depending where. In order from smallest to largest: Internet trolls, Forest trolls, Cave trolls, Mountain trolls.) Elf (Beautiful humanoids that live in forests and use magic. Immortal in the aging sense) Dwarf (Short bearded humanoids that live in mountains, mine ore, and make amazing weapons. Can live to be like 500 years old.) Gnome (Extremely short humanoid. Uses magic.) Gremlin (Short monsters that like to mess with machinery and have interest in aircrafts particularly.) Goblin (Short humanoid creature, tribal in nature, likes war. Certain creatures are known as Goblinoid if they're grody and not-human) Smurf (Blue cartoon character. Not mythological in any sense) To expand: Halfling (AKA: Hobbit. Really short, but not as short as gnomes. Non magical, dislike adventure, live in half-underground houses built into hills. Likes to get fat and party.) Orc (Green Goblinoid creature, like goblins only larger.) and I think that's the basics of modern fantasy creatures.
