Yea, why ? They're like the fastest leveler class in the game. Is it because ice and lightening are way cooler elements than fire and poison ? xD (That's the reason I picked I/L over F/P lol)

Good question, also because they have no mobbing skills at first and second job, that may be a problem for people and maybe because they are under estimated, just like Paladins.

Well, I personally think that 2nd job is really pointless for f/p. They have no mobbing skills and they seem boring...

Back in the day I/Ls had way more advantages than F/Ps. The population still hasn't evened itself out even now because not many want to invest time in levelling up a mage these days, but I am seeing more of them around. Poison breath is a mob skill. While it only targets one enemy at a time, the poison effect it causes still continues to deal damage to several enemies at once. How is that not a mob skill? If it weren't a mob skill that acted like this F/Ps wouldn't have the reputation of "the fastest levellers to 4th job".

I have heard many stereotypes about the F/P Mage: poison is a fail element and should have been along the lines of earth, fire poison has a horrible second job, things like that. I have found none of them true. To counter just the two I stated above, who else gets a full-map attacking skill before fourth job? And not to mention fire arrow is one of the strongest 1-target attacks in second job, which will soon be upgraded to 3 targets, from what I hear about the balance patch. Not to mention poison brace has the potential to hugely increase the OVERALL damage one does on a map, while other classes are attacking only one target or a small cluster. Besides the fact that after you get poison mist, the road to 120 is just riding the gravy train. I really don't understand why we are so rare, but I have heard that more people would make F/p's after the balance patch. Must have something to do with slow attacking speed or a "no good" second job. EDIT: Perhaps I should also throw in that my STRIPPED (meaning lvl 10 equips and a below average lvl 35 staff) lvl 103 F/p can easily level in a little over an hour on 2x at skeles.
lord3vader : Since BWs use fire also but get extra AP.
Wind archers use arrows also, but many people still make bowmen (the same cannot be said for crossbowmen.) Night walkers use stars, but many people still make NLs. The list extends to the other 3 cygnus knights as well. While your idea may contribute to the overall rarity of F/p, with respect I don't think it's the dominating factor here.

1. No one wants them in parties, and even if they do get into one they are just charity cases or no use at all, also they are very underestimated! 2. Boring class IMO they get really repeatitive after a while 3. Burns sooo many pots! 4. They have the worst looking mage skills (Poison Mist, Poison Brace) 5. No mob skills in 2nd job 6. When they get to 3rd job, their damage is not good (really bad actually) but Poison Mist is good for traning. Besides training, they are not really good at anything D: I don't really like my F/P anymore so I gave up on it

Besides training, they are not really good at anything D: I don't really like my F/P anymore so I gave up on it
Here's my intake on the 6 points you made. 1. Their second job damage and beginning third job damage is excellent (in LPQ, I was consistently the only one who was able to knockback the rombots). My experience was no trouble getting into parties. 2. Not gonna lie, they do get boring. 3. Going around and misting 5 or 6 times, then waiting until 1 HP and going in for the kill. Both logically and in practice, this saves many pots as opposed to constantly attacking and recieving touch/magic damage. 4. They do look somewhat bad, but most people make a class for damage/training. I do not think there is a single duo of more effective training moves here. 5. As someone above earlier stated, poison brace IS a mob skill. And fire arrow will be a mob skill with the balancing patch. 6. Poison mist, fastest damage dealer to the entire map. Can't get much better. Explosion deals solid damage to multiple enemies, and elemental composition (forgot what it's called) is basically fire arrow (a very strong attack) upgraded even further, with the chance of poison damage. Overall, can be tedious to get to third job, but like I stated above 70-120 is easy. Bossing is a weak point, but doesn't the same hold true for I/l? Edit: @ Below, I never thought about it in terms like that. I stand corrected.
Yea but Wind archers don't have SE, one of the main reasons people make BMs (sorry for the sterotype). Also, NL's have shadow claw, which is one advantage over NW's. Adventurers can also boss, unlike Cygnus. Adventurers usually have some advantages over the Cygnus counterpart, but for F/ps can't boss either and don't realy have too much of an advantage over BWs. They both end up spamming ultimates for quite a while.
lord3vader : Since BWs use fire also but get extra AP.
F/Ps were rare long before the existence of BWs. From what I can remember way back when, before 4th job and such, Pizard and Hybrid builds weren't popular at all-- yes, even a little while after the release of Ludi I didn't see many Hybrids or Pizards-- so F/Ps would go to Nath and use FA to train; whereas I/L Mages had Thunder Bolt which allowed them to mob up monsters like Lorangs, hence the old misconception that F/Ps are "slow" in 2nd job. And then I/Ls had the stronger 1v1 skill in 3rd job, Thunder Spear, add the fact that I/Ls can freeze, and you can see why people really didn't make F/Ps. Nowadays that has changed, but the population still hasn't balanced quite yet, though I'm starting to see an influx of F/Ps.

Quite possibly one of the main reasons is either A. Lack of mobbing in 2nd job, though PB does help speed through those 60-70 levels. B. Not much point in grinding up to 4th job considering for 1. Blizzard has same magic att but can freeze, and genesis costs less MP, casts faster, and is strong against skeles which is always a popular leech spot. Also, they cannot boss as efficiently as other classes.

One stupid reason why people don't like fire poison is because they don't know how to use a class so different to others, If you cant get a fp mage to 3rd job, lvl 5x or even 3rd job (where poison is mainly used) without complaining then don't talk... Don't even give us your opinion.. @ above; at lvl 74 I was already misting at skeles, I wasnt even funded and if your complaining then I think you've failed as fp mage. Lvls 77+ are suppose to be the fastest. I dont want to brag but i got from lvl 74 ~ 10x in a week misting training at skeles.
