Well, just focusing on death metal vocals, I'll get to the music later, maybe. I'm not really a Death Metal fan, so... Layne Staley was a good metal vocalist, but it was sorta grunge, and a little bit classic metal.

You should listen to Annotations of an Autopsy and Circle of Dead Children. I think you'll like them. EDIT: I like that stuff, but I'm really into like, thrash and noise core, and techy metal. I LOVE The Number 12 Looks Like You, Heavy Heavy Low Low, Duck Duck Goose, stuff like that.

But in terms of power metal, I like shymphony x, Queensryche, Judaspriest, Some iron maiden can be technically considered power metal but, you get the idea

I don't like metal with screaming vocals. I don't care how much talent or whatever it takes, it just sounds horrible in my opinion. That's probably the reason people hate on it.
