Avatar wasnt THAT great

So I watched Avatar last night and to be honest, yeh it was entertaining but it wasnt that great where everyone was like wow best movie ever, im going to watch it for my 2387654356th time. I mean yeh props for making an entire movie from computer graphics and stuff, but it fustrated me more then entertained me at some parts. In my opinion no computer graphics movie can beat real life acting movie, I just didnt feel for the characters. Some parts of the movie fustrated me more then entertained me, I mean at first they chouldnt shoot arrows through windows, now they all of the sudden could shoot arrows through a window to kill the gun ship piolets. Then also like if I was the general, and I found out that guy was back stabbing me, I would of pulled that traitor out of his bed thingy and just shot him, I mean its another planet, earth rules dont apply. I also didnt really care that the blue guys were getting shot and stuff yeh, like I said I didnt feel for them. Dont say Im cold, or heartless, I mean I felt bad for the Somolians that got shot in Black Hawk Down. Just watching the movie and seeing how the General ordered and aligned his troops, I was just thinking, wouldnt have done that, would have done something else. I dunno, I personally wouldnt have let a bunch of blue guys with bows and arrows over run me, if all went sour I would of at least tacticle nuked that place. Anyways out of 10 i would give it 6.5 - 7? Edit: (Off Topic): But the whole time I was watching the movie, anyone ever think that the general guy from the movie kinda looked like Duke Nukem? The only thing I thought was not that great were the 3D effects, I seemed like it wouldn't make so much difference if you see it in 3D other not. It was also a pretty weird movie, I couldn't really compare it to other movies if people asked my how it was, maybe in quality, but definitely not in genre. I'd give it at least an 8 or 9. At LEAST.

The 3-D is what made this movie. That's why it got so much hype.

[/quote] Yeh i never saw it in 3D but I dont think that would still really change my opinion about the movie. But to be honest the storyline has been all said and done, just when I started the movie, I was already like yeh so hell turn from military man to caring jumping around alien and back stab everyone then save the day.

The arrow part is becaus you didnt pay attention. They sayd in the movie to use theyre flying thingys to make speed from high above to give their arrows more speed. Aka more force. And srry but take a freaking tacticle nuke on a trip of a couple of years in space....? what if that went wrong ? come on dude please think reasonable for a sec... But yeah its kinda a pokahontas ripp off but then in 3d

3D is awesome... like really really good. I love the night scene part, it felt so real. Plot is meh. I mean who ride horses in a jungle. -horse gallop gallop- then - trip- oops? o_o

An arrow launched from somebody on a banshee divebombing at a helicopter (I'm guessing at around 100mph going by birds on earth and scaling) moves much faster and packs much more punch than an arrow launched from a stand still. 3) You clearly misunderstood the movie if you "didn't even feel for" the Na'vi. I'm done. Your argument is misinformed and full of holes, and you're incapable of following a simple story, apparently. @Orange: The 3D definitely had some issues, but most of them are not the fault of the movie. For really smooth 3D, you need a much higher frame rate than what's feasible today. There's also some issues with using focus in 3D, but you'd need to be more familiar with film techniques to understand it, so I'll spare you.

All of the books/movies you referenced are rehashes of THAT story, so please vacate the thread. EVERY story has been done before; it's how the story's told that gives it value.

I liked Avatar alot. Its definitely one of the most memorable movies ive seen. Of cousre I dont' think it was the best ever. There's no best ever XD

Its war, people die, nothing really to feel for, I mean land and resources get stolen all the time with blood on the hands. Id feel worse if it was actually some place on earth where this stuff is really going on. And if its Genocide then why not a nuke, and what kind of amry doenst have artillery, and knowing the birds cant go into space why not launch missles from space, or even introduce bio weapons.

[/quote] They did not nuke the planet because politics played a huge part in it all also. People on earth would not be happy to see humans pretty much annihilating a planet that actually was inhabited by living beings. They were there in the first place to mine the planet for Unobtanium and bombing the place because they defended themselves would also be a nono politically. Especially since the humans attacked the blue people first. Edit: Theres also the fact that if they nuked the blue people than there wouldnt be a part 2 and the titanic guy wouldnt be able to make another billion+ dollars.
