Trojan succesfully hacks Authenticator Protected Accounts A new virus spawned on the internet a few days ago and seems to be the first trojan capable of hacking a WoW account protected by an Authenticator. It was confirmed by Blizzard a few hours ago. Basically, what the virus does is fairly simple after you're infected : * The next time you log in World of Warcraft, the game asks for your Authenticator code. * The virus intercepts it, send it to another server, and sends a wrong one to Blizzard = You get an error. * The people behind the virus now have a few seconds/minutes to use the "real" code while it's valid to change your password / empty your account / guild bank. How to check if you're infected Just search for a file named "emcor.dll" on your computer, it is most likely located in "C:Users(Your user name)AppDataTemp" but I suggest that you check everything just to be sure. If you do find the file, delete it and make sure you update your anti-virus to prevent any further problem. To be honest, if you found this file your account is probably already compromised. What does it mean exactly? * Yes, you can get hacked even if you have an authenticator, the chances are MUCH lower but you're not invulnerable. * It definitely isn't an excuse to not have an authenticator. We're talking about a single virus here and the authenticator will save your ass 99% of the time. * Get a decent anti-virus, buy an authenticator, you'll be safe. If they can do that to wow they can easily do it to maplestory.

And also at above; They chatted me and asked to CC [/quote] It's not going to happen at all that's why. just a bunch of noobs like always not willing to admit they gave out their info or got keylogged. which more then likely they did. hell I've gotten two trojans from the google ads on basil but my anti-virus is good enough to detect them and delete them. it could explain why such an abnormal disproportionate amount of people on basil get hacked. I'm just going to keep playing like I do and I'll keep not getting hacked.

Chances are if someone ask you to cc you need to virus scan and check for trojans/keyloggers and such things that look suspicious on your computer im just letting people know that its not possible to remote acess and seeing as they just log onto your account after dcing you its not actually remote hacking remote means they control your mouse and keyboard and you watch hopelessly as they completely own you.

They are most likely targeting merchants + rich players as they are expecting to fetch at least a few bil from each person. And please, not everyone is stupid enough to give out info and the like. This was something that happened within a matter of seconds and everything just happened to add up to that instant. It wasnt careful planning to hack me especially over periods of time, just merely anyone they could grasp.

they are hackers maybe they have a way to exploit the ccing? I dont know how all these hacks/exploits work sorry im no expert but everyone keeps going about remote acess and remote acess is literally them controlling your mouse/keyboard and you sit there and watch hopelessly as they take everything and you cant do anything about it.

I click on random links, download things that are a complete mystery to me, and I have no antivirus programs (they all expired and I never bothered to renew them). By that logic, I would have been hacked 6 years ago. There's no way that all these people who are careful (even if they might not all be as careful as they claim) got this trojan/virus and I didn't.

You're clearly making yourself look ignorant because you know nothing about me and im not one of those 12yo kiddies that comes on here and starts talking " Hai guyez im so kool" so please keep your ignorance to yourself. That's the last reply you are getting from me if you don't like my thread the piss off i don't care I'm here to discuss that its impossible to be remote acess hacked because not only does it require authorization if they do bypass that you will be watching it in real time as they drop all your items and you cant do a damn thing about it.
