Having second thoughts

Okay, so I had originally planned to maker and scroll my own blue screamer (making new ones until I land 2 30% then use 5 60% and hope for the best on them) but I just tried the the first one and it ended up being much more expensive than I anticipated. I spent 15-20m to maker it, it ended up only 2 above average and I blew it up with the first scroll. fml xD So my question is, would it be more cost effective to abandon my plan and just buy a 110+ screamer? (I was planning on a 110+ one from maker) Or should I continue trying to make my own? Note: If I landed the 2 30% and the 60s didn't go so well resulting in only like 108 att, I would be okay with that just for the satisfaction of making it myself. Note2: I have a budget of anywhere from 50-150m obviously less is better and I have 5 more levels to get it so it isn't a huge rush. Thanks in advance, I won't make it a poll because I'd like to know why.

Use a RK, HG, Rohen or anything except a Screamer. But if you insist on using one, then yes, buy prescrolled. Swords aren't really worth self-scrolling anymore, barring maybe the radically powerful endgame ones you can't trade and would never do anything short of white + 50% scroll, like Lunchbox or Timeless weapons.

im willing to sell my screamer, its 109 atk 9 str. ill be happy to sell it 5k (before tax) in the mts. Otherwise, i suggest you use a rohen till 100, the accuracy is a BIG advantage

[/quote] You do realise just how annoying it is to hear anyone say "a 'real' fan is/does/thinks..." right? Honestly, I thought you'd be happy someone cares about a weapon because they like that specific weapon, instead of being a damage *insert word here*; I didn't expect you to dismiss someone as not being a true fan because they don't share your dislike of a certain character('s weapon). I'll agree Tidus is a terribly annoying main character though.

I'm not dismissing the thread starter. I'm retorting against monkey's post. The thread starter not having mentioned FF, I assume, isn't a fan of it, or even aware of its connection to Screamer, in the first place. Can't honestly say though that I concur with what most people consider annoying. I've found that most of the time, the things people find annoying are those that make the most real sense. Besides, even if we were going with the popularity issue, I don't think there's much disagreement that FF5 through FF9 were the zenith, the point at which Square really dominated the industry, and that everything from FFX-2 onward was significantly downhill. As FF quality itself goes, some purists even consider FF7 onward to be too disgraceful to share a series with 1 through 6. Naturally, I am not among that number.

The only times I've found that to be the case are when certain expected breaks from reality aren't made; when there are things people prefer not making sense in a real world context, because trying to make sense comes at the cost of fun. [/quote] Given that FFIX was how I was first introduced to Final Fantasy (yes, I did start with one other than either the first or FFVII), I obviously could never be among that number either. However I'm also one of the people who enjoyed Crystal Chronicles (the GC one; I vaguely enjoyed the sequels, but not as much), so I probably don't want to know how a purist would react to me.

I've found that generally, the majority (by a vast amount) of people, particularly in modern times but also sometimes in older literature, prefer to ignore truths if they're inconvenient, don't mesh with what they wish to be true, or aren't popular. In short, when presented with essentially anything that contradicts what they wish, and therefore believe, to be true, they dismiss it with descriptors, labels, and occasionally violence. It's something of a defensive mechanism. I'd say people in general break down into something that looks like: 75% fall into that category; 5% can either understand that what seems pleasant or unpleasant is, when deeply considered, quite the opposite; and 20% are pseudo-intellectuals that fall into the former category but use B.S.ing techniques, repetition of popular but worn-out sentiments, and paraphrasing (and over the net, constant use of a thesaurus and Wikipedia) to seem like they belong to the latter category. For a prime example of the 20%, see pretty much every intelligent-sounding poster in the Chat section. [/quote] Maybe not so badly, actually. After 7 and 8, FF9 was considered a throwback to the originals when it came out.

[/quote] I was referring to situations where realism would detract from the fun of a game, but I'd be interested to see examples from the FF fanbase where what you describe occurs.
