Regarding starting our beloved game from the website.

Does this mean we can uninstall it from our computers, or will we still need all 3 GB worth of files? The website said the game would just direct us to the website. Thoughts, opinions? Discuss~

You can still start it from your desktop, it's just that starting from the website will remove the part where you type in your ID/PW into the game, and it'll take you directly to the server selection.

You will need maplestory to be installed. But it probably wont work if you just open it on your computer. You have to go to the maplestory website and click some "start game" button, and that opens maplestory on your computer. Another attempt at advertising nexons other games trying to get you to spend more money.

I think it's absolutely the stupidest thing I've ever heard of in my life. (exaggeration) What if your internet normally starts up slow. It's just a pain in the rectum to get to the game now. And sometimes my browsers don't work, but games do. So, now what. Just another stupid attempt to be "unique" or a terribly thought way of being more efficient. /rant

They finally realized that with the millions of people opening it from their desktop, a ton of potential money being made from advertisements could be at loss in the future. With forcing the player to go to the website, users have to view the many advertisements on the official website, and therefore, they make a lot more money this way. Generally whats happening is the following: The desktop icon no longer executes MapleStory.exe located in your hard-drive, instead, it launches the main website on your default browser. The launch button on the browser calls the direct executable file on your hard-drive. So all in all: Shortcut >[launches]> Website >[launches]> MapleStory.exe in your hard-drive. Cut out the middle-men and you can launch it direct. Assuming the website somehow tells MapleStory that your login credentials are correct, I'm sure the data can be intercepted for some interesting ideas.

It's just like Gunbound. You need to download the game, but the launcher will be on the site.
