Opening boxes in APQ bonus

Hey there, So im wondering .. what's the best way to open boxes? There are two main things i need to find out. 1. What is better, crawling and poking, or standing and hitting/stabbing? 2. What is better, your normal wep + booster or just another weapon that may be faster? (i.e Knuckle + booster vs yellow umbrella + no booster)

1. What I usually do is hit several boxes at a time, because the delay for hitting a box is longer than the delay for your weapon attack (meaning you can use the normal attack faster than you can actually hit the box). If you're crawling, it takes slightly more time to crawl:poke:shift direction:crawl:poke..etc. The only exception to this, I think, would be if you're an Assassin or Archer type. Sometimes when you use a normal attack in the air you might fire off a shot instead of doing an attack, which will slow you down. 2. Normal wep+booster: depends on your class weapon speed (DKs should definitely use a different weapon), but I think in your case knuckle +booster would be faster than an umbrella. I've also got my own question. Usually when in bonus, everyone spreads out across the map and don't fight for boxes that are right next to each other simple because there are SO many boxes. Today when I was APQing, I landed at the same spot as another party member. I immediately moved to the platform above and let him take the current platform we were on. The platform I went to had boxes arranged like this: a b c de f g h I was hitting boxes C, D, and E consecutively. The other person followed me onto my platform after he had cleared the original one and started hitting F and G. I had already opened D and E and had hit C about 2~3 times when I moved a couple pixels to the right to pick up a diamond that had dropped (Yes, I'm poor). The other party member then moved over to the left and hit C once, which then opened and dropped an Onyx Apple. I didn't loot it and fight over it with him because 1) I didn't want to be smeared as an apple looter since he did hit the box last 2) It's not worth fighting over. However, I am pretty annoyed that the other party member was hitting boxes so close to me, as it's really easy to have disputes over which drops are whose(Due to server lag, I could hit the box first on my screen while the other person could have seen that THEY hit it first also; or if two boxes very close together open at the same time, it's hard to tell what dropped from which box). Am I wrong to be irritated that the other person was following me so closely? I mean, I always move one screen length away from other people if possible, since there ARE lots of other boxes on other platforms.

[/quote] I agree that it's better to give everyone some space to open boxes in, but sometimes the timer gets really low and the closest boxes are in someone else's area. :/ I wouldn't try opening a box someone was already hitting, but I might go for one that was next to it.

Hmm .. wait so faster is fast (3) right? Is there any weapon for under lv100 and common/pirate that's fast (2)? Because if there isnt im better off just using normal wep + booster right?

yeah, use a faster wep, whack one in your left, while it recovers to be able to get hit again, wack the other in your right and while recovers, whack the one in your left and repeat.

Thanks to my Lunchbox + Booster's ability to max out my attack speed, all I do is stand so I can reach 2 boxes and hold the attack key down. 8 swings later, 2 boxes broken =3

1. Poke two at once, and move on while the boxes are still spewing their insides. Just stay close enough by that you can see if an apple pops out, but don't just sit there waiting. 2. As a TB, you should have SI, no? I think there are a few normal weapons that are faster. As a warrior, I can't say. I just pumpkin basket/booster, which is fun fast.

use a faster weapon. such as a lollipop or pumpkin basket. maximize ur time by hitting 2 boxes at a time. if there are two, poke them while laying down. if there are 3 stand and atk because sometimes your atk will go backwards instead of forwards. last 5 seconds of the pq avoid opening new boxes as apples will fly out and you will miss them, this usually results in rage and smacking yourself in the face lol. also keep eye on boxes you've opened as you move to the next one. sometimes 2 come out of the same box. the only time i stand and watch a box completely empty it's goods are if there are no boxes left around me and I have to crawl up a rope. make sure you have slots in USE because sometimes u get scrolls too :O lastly, avoid going in areas where people already are... this only leads to looting and other annoyances.

Before that I was using my goblin bat I got in a quest (cause it's fast). As soon as the balrog is killed, double click on the fruit knife and start swinging (even before you get to the boxes). EDIT : had*, not have. The fruit knife really does work, btw.

OHHH fruit knife! But yeah i dont have SI yet (7 more lvs f5) So i guess i might have to stick with my knuckle fast (4) + booster (2) for now and then use your tactics. thanks everyone

Just like Silver, I use the lunchbox that I have since apparently it's one of the fastest weapons in the game.

I was in an APQ the other day and some guy glitched/hacked the boxes... as soon as we entered the bonus stage, all the boxex exploded... it was a mad house. I only got 1 apple, then everyone was running around after the earrings and diamonds...

One and only one of the many many many many (T.T) many many APQS i did, somebody hacked all the boxes and every one of them opened for us to loot lol. Weird but awesome.
